it was too many bad games and wasted money to come to a sane conclusion
also sinclair obviously seeks out niche games and its hilarious that anyone thinks vanquish is better than gears. i dont like dudebro games so i have to play them ironically!!! (binary domains target audience)
never said i liked vanquish better than gears (if i did it was just the initial hype talking) and ive never said anything about "dudebro" games anywhere. i still dont know why vanquish is supposedly bad.

look im sorry you wasted your money on games you didnt like because i said good things about them on this forum (which ones were those btw, other than vanquish?), but im just a random nerd on the internet, not some authority on videogames

also
Quote
ive given these so called games with DEPTH a try a billion times and every time i buy a new one i think, maybe this will be the one. but no, i've come to the conclusion that people just really like sperg games
ive tried a million fighting games and i still don't get it. every time i buy a new fighting game thats supposedly different from all the others and end up playing it like twice and never looking at it again. doesnt mean fighting games are bad it just means im apparently not in their target audience. i guess part of the reason is that i have terrible reflexes.

yep. i get stuck in a part and i stop playing. thats why i play modern games. not because theyre easier, or maybe they are, how would i know? but because they dont think stopping me from playing is a good idea. i look for games i can actually enjoy, not a game that i have to gamefaqs or play a 100 times to learn it. this is when people will say "you don't like games, or you don't like thinking." i don't think a repetition skill (mastering a difficult game) or solving a puzzle skill (trying out all outcomes) is thinking. i don't think i can ever think in a game that leaves me stuck and it only ever happens if it's progressing.

Have you enjoyed any of the games on the list?
waht list? steam list? that's not my entire game library of course. i'll talk abotu them later

What'd you think of Kane and Lynch 2?

I got sick of Vanquish cause all the cool stuff that you could do was limited by a bar, but that bar only filled up based on time. Maybe if I could've head shot some foos or something to fill up some of that bar, it would've been more enjoyable. I did like how arcadey it felt though.

Far Cry sucks.

Please don't tell me you got stuck right in the cave where the game starts and missed all the glory.

Other than that what you say won't ressemble any sense. It's not a puzzle-game, and it's not a game forcing you to apply a repetitive skill you have to master. It is directed sandbox with regular checkpoints. Everything is right at your disposal and it is up to you how to approach the situation. Pretty much what you claimed to want.

Looking at you it seems Far Cry won't be the game for you. There is also no auto-health.

But speaking about modern games. For some reason I can imagine the game "Enslaved" is a good guess for you. You might take a look at it before buying.

btw. the major part in a good puzzle-game is not trial and error. It's about creativity and conclusions.

i did buy enslaved, i got stuck 2/3 of the way and stopped playing
which reminds me... dificulty curves make no sense. why make the game worse as it goes on?

Hey eva what if you got to customizing your character right at the beginning of the game? Like, here's a skill tree, easy mode gives 10 points, medium gives 7 points, hard gives dum points, go nuts. Would you still unninstall the game?
this list isnt definitive of whether i'd uninstall or not but thats making me make a hard choice that carrys through the rest of the game which is another annoyance. i don't know what i'd rather have. if the game is strong enough for me to beat despite having every shitty thing on this list then they did a good job masking the shittyness (polishing a turd works.)
sure its not like you wrote an essay or anything. point is: if you customize your character right at the beginning how is it any different from choosing leonardo instead of rafael or whatever
