I'd love it for my new game, and if enough people think they can, I could start a contest...or something. Hideki Naganuma's one of my big-time inspirations, and I wouldn't doubt he inspired most of the musicians here. I've never made anything too much like his material, though, since I use samples less than he does (it's a safe practice). I'm pretty sure Japan has different laws as far as sampling goes, which if true would make me very envious. I'll try my hand at making something in his style today, though.

Here's my short looping attempt. It's missing the small vocal clips that Hideki Naganuma usually peppers throughout his tracks, but I think I replicated his style well besides that. The most important step was recording a funky bassline (which I kinda cribbed off of sneakman as you'll hear) then chopping it up and bitcrushing a bit to make it sound sampled.

Did I get his style down for the most part?

Yeah! I could get the sampling down easily, it's the composition that is hard. I was working on a Back 2 Back remix but it sounds nothing like his composition. How did you make this so good? And further yet, can I add samples to it?

Honestly, to make a song in Hideki Naganuma style, just come up with a funky melody, put it over some breaks, and smother it with vocal samples. Finished! There's no real secret to it, I think.

Haha that sounded cool. I used to love the song Back 2 Back as well.

I had a go at doing a Hideki Naganuma inspired track like..6'ish years ago. No vocal clips but I'll post it here anyways.
