HELLO TIGSOURCE. I'm posting this on behalf of my girlfriend. She works at a great magazine about the dutch games industry & they are looking for writers and artists to feature for an international (digital and/or print) version of Control Magazine! Hell yeah!

Quote
Hey,

We are about to -officially- launch our brand new international website for the games industry: ControlMagazine.net

At GDC Europe and Gamescom we will distribute a new international print edition of our magazine, that we'll use to promote our digital outlet, indeed: the website.

Why am I telling you this?

Because we want to give you an opportunity to share your experiences and opinions on this platform. And -of course- we are looking for some quality content for the site.

This is what we are offering: an international platform, online and in print (we make a selection of articles that we'll publish in the print edition of the magazine) for you to talk to other developers. Yes, this indeed implies that we are not paying for your contributions. That would make the project quickly too expensive to exist.

So it's totally up to you to decide wether or not you writing for a platform that reaches a couple of thousand developers is something you want to spend your time on. If not -- we totally understand.

If you do want to write, you are completely free to choose your subject -- as long as it has some links to game development.

Please let me know if you are interested. If so, feel free to send me your first story.

PS: To give you an impression of the site, here are a few examples:

They're looking for great people and I'm sure we've got some here. Good luck getting yourself in there! Gomez

Doesn't Control focus mainly on the Dutch games industry, with Dutch developers as target audience? I understand having promotional print editions for conventions to advertise the Dutch industry, but what would be the point of having a regularly updated international website? Is Control going to expand to have developers in general as target audience?

No, they want great people, not superb people.

They aim for lower standards, unfortunately.

Yep, they're expanding and will bring developers together trough this new medium.

Anyone is welcome to give it a shot, including sigvatr and super joe. Wink

Control likes to expand and not only limit the focus on Dutch developers. We see so many international collaborations happening that it would be a loss if we won't try to reach out to both the Dutch as the international devs. We won't forget our target audience, but we would like to broaden our horizon.

Huh, okay. I wonder what an international Control can offer that isn't already offered by Gamasutra and indie gaming sites.

Hmmm sounds interesting. You say they're looking for artists to contribute as well? Would you mind elaborating on what artists may do to help out?

Yes, we are.
This is what we're doing: We feature 1 artist every week, showing 1 piece of exclusive art. We publish an interview in which you can tell about yourself, your work, inspiration, technique etc. We will link to your own personal portfolio page.
There’s also the chance you’ll get featured in one of the English print editions of our magazine, that we distribute at (amongst other venues) GDC (San Franciso) and GDC Europe/Gamecom (Germany). We are an independent publication, set up by two gamejournalists. At the moment we don't have much to offer in terms of financial compensation, but we love working together and offer a platform for artists to show their work.

Please let me know if you are interested!
