Hey everyone,
I wrote an article about best practices for creating app Icons that you can check out here -
http://blog.jamogames.com/2012/08/app-icons-study-in-best-practice.html

I tried to put some of the things I discovered into practice in my own app icon for my upcoming game "Amp, Watts & Circuit", and Id love to know what you think of it so I can make it as awesome as possible.

Look forward to talking to you!
James

Looks decent, but it feels like there should be more saturation on something (like the aliens) since it seems a bit dull. Might just be my monitor though lol, have my settings low.

Yeah you might be right, I did up it at one point but it ended up looking over saturated. Ill play with it again and see if I can find a decent middle ground. Thanks for the help!

Really cute/cool design, love the characters.

As mentioned, the icon overall feels pretty saturated and dull, brighter colours will help it pop out more - which is what you want with anything in an app store Smiley

I imagine the character's are coloured as they are in game, so it wouldn't make sense to change their colour on the icon, so maybe try playing with the background a bit. Perhaps actually making it a darker colour would make the characters stand out more and add some depth to the icon?

Brilliant, thanks!

The highlights aren't consistent. The highlight on the tilted helmet should be farther up to match the others.

Yeah I see what you mean. Its cause he wasn't tilted in the original image. I'll fix it!
