Trailer? trailer? trailer!   roger...  Wink

I would prepare a demo if someone tells me how to make good sound effects with "goattracker"... (actually fighting with that beast) Otherwise a trailer comes first.

> Press Z to pick up sliding hat!

thank you, there's the autopickup mode...

Sorry, here's the teaser... There're still a couple of bugs in there, and I know you... You will find them all and tell me about them, but not tell me anything about the gameplay. So I have to fix them first. Also, sound is important. But next up: demo

Fantastic. Looks great and the haunting music adds a lot. Are you planning to limit the audio to SID capabilities? If it means giving up that music I'd suggest no Smiley

For the title, are we talking about a Pharoah's Return, or a couple of Pharoahs Returning?

Nice little teaser. How long are you expecting a full playthrough to take in the final game?

@Franklins Ghost: That's too early to answer, but it will be a small game, so maybe 60 minutes

@dukope: The music definitely has to be a SID song, that is one of the essentials in a C64 game. But Pharaohs Return's composer likes the sound of the teaser video, so I think there's a good chance that there will be dark parts in the music...

Also, only one Pharaoh returns. But he's got some good old cronies...  Durr...?

The mood is ace here! I would definitely keep the music in line with what you have in the trailer piece, love it!
Keep up the cool work!

Also, I would like to add some more "hat"-actions, but I am out of ideas. Anything?

The hat should be your armor, in that you can afford to get hit once, which makes the hat fly up in the air and float down (slowly seeking the player out, kinda leaf in the wind style). If you get hit while the hat is not on your head, game over.

There's a couple of classic 8-bit games which use similar mechanics, right? Even a Mario game, I think?

Thanks for the support!

@dukope: It is freezed frozen, but I will continue working on it in January.

@siskavard:  Yes, the chances for a C64 version on a real cartridge are 75%. (And for a NES version 25%)

This looks terrific! Brings back so much memories from the 80s. I had to browse through the whole thread to see if Pharaoh's Curse was mentioned as that game instantly came to my mind when I saw the first screens. That must have been an inspiration?

Shhht, don't say that word.  Roll Eyes  In fact, the game is inspired by several other games and movies and if you are designing a game with ancient egypt content, you will encounter hieroglyphics, statues, chambers, etc. But it is a new thing, and not a successor of another game.

Guten Abend Lazycow !

I'm pleased to see that you are still around:)

Follow your project for some time and I have to say I enjoy to read about it even my technical and programming skills are close to zero...
Even I'm better to play and enjoy retrogaming games than of course to create one,and I would love to, I have to say its interesting to read about the conception despite some frustration about not totally understanding because of lack of knowledge..

Anyway just some words to say "don't give up" for my and all retrogamers pleasure.
One day I would love that some people like you record and made a video(longggg...)about what they have done to create a game from start to finish....
Will be a wonderful long movie to watch(of course with some explanation for total beginner like me...)

As a conclusion thanks to spend some of your time for our actual and futur pleasure:)
