UPDATED August 20, 2012,

Hello Tigforum members. I'm looking for some feedback and thoughts on our tigjam game.

The concept is  simple - Get to the end of the level without being suffocated by the hordes of loving red cubes. You can stun them momentarily with a bomb [SPACE], but be careful, as the bombs are in short supply.

Developed at the TIGJam Australia event, we are releasing the game and the source code for free. We’ve also included a video tutorial on how to create content for the game.

We're looking for some feedback. It's very easy to update the levels so if there's a level you think is shit let me know and I'll revise it and I'll dropbox a temp version of that level where you can review it again. Or just download the source and fix it yourself Smiley We're quite keen to update the website with user content.

Here is the game: http://theyloveyou.net/
Here is the source code: https://github.com/pda/they_love_you
Here is a video tutorial for level creating: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwSXXypyKy8

Thank you.

Version 1.1
- New level sequence, that I hope will be easier to pick up.
- New levels

I had a go at this at the IGDA meetup a couple of weeks ago (small world ey?). Fun little game! I'm amazed at what comes out of these 48 hour jams.

Fun little game, makes me feel like the guy on the tagged commercial with all the girl chasing him

Very nice work. Creative and innovative concept for sure

Awesome! We're probably bring it to the next meet-up and show of the level creation tool.

I tried reddit posting the game but with not much result. People like the game but for a 48 hour game I guess there's just not enough excitement. I'm getting the best response from other dev's that are learning unity. So I might make a better tutorial (The video one is way too long). Post it on the Unity forums and maybe send it to the Universities teaching games design.

Anyways still looking for more feedback.

I enjoyed this!

  • I thought your chasing mechanic was surprisingly realistic, as opposed to many other games where it often just comes down to the relative speed of the objects in question, perhaps with some modifiers (Mount & Blade comes to mind, since I'm playing it right now). That all probably works well for representing vehicles and so on, but it doesn't come close to reflecting all the little split-second decisions you make when being chased on foot, especially in those brief windows of time right when your pursuer gets really close to you. Once I got the hang of moving around in They Love You, I could have the red blocks right on my tail but still manage, though not without difficulty, to avoid being pinned.  Hand Clap I think it would be interesting to explore the effects of different shapes on the front ends of the red blocks.
  • It felt halfway between physics game and puzzler. Sometimes I felt like I discovered a "solution", and other times I felt like I performed well on that particular run. And I couldn't predict which way I would solve each puzzle. That was nice.

Great game buddy! Smiley I love puzzle games, I think there needs to be more of them, like Portal etc.. even if they are simple.  Definately a wide open market.

Updated the game with a new level sequence.

Curious if to know if people are finding the level past the hidden exit.
