Smash Star v1.0

I recently learned using Game Maker: Studio, and my first result is this little platformer right here. It has a few light issues, especially when things get narrow. Collisions are hard!! Sad This game was made to get to know GM:S and is releatively short.

Game!

The game is all about a grabbing/throwing mechanic. Enemies can be thrown at walls or into each other. Carrying some objects will give you additional abilities or react differently when thrown.

You can progress by getting to the end of each level and saving a bunch of folks along the way. Coins can be used to buy health and other things.

Controls:

-Arrow keys, Space & Alt or A & S
-Escape: exit to menu/exit game
-Alt+Enter: fullscreen

The visuals remind me of A Game with a Kitty games, nice work.

Edit: uhh, just noticed the file name, I guess you made those too? Nicer work ^_^

I like pixel graphics and music. Gameplay mechanics are unique and took some getting use to though and would be nice if had joystick support. I did get stuck in the second screen on the first level (where you had to use an object as leverage for jumping or something) since it didn't work. Great work over all Smiley.

Thanks for trying the game! Smiley

Joystick support... I'm gonna check, GM:S should have that. If it does, I'll add support.

Edit: It now has joystick support. You can download and reinstall or copy the new files into the game folder to update.

It basically works like a double jump. You press jump in midair while carrying an enemy or object. Did that not work for you?

Plays much better with joystick. Ok i was able to double jump now, didn't quite understand that i had to be carrying an enemy with me in order to do it. Game is kinda tough though, only 2 health and no checkpoints.

The levels are usually rather short, but there always are checkpoints before bosses. As for health, try getting 10 coins and buy additional health from the red guy in the town level.
