About 2 years ago I started this project, swordpond. The point was simply to create some games I wanted to make, and have a consistent brand under which they could be released.

This pretty much went out the window when I failed miserably in finishing my projects. Swordpond was made at the same time as I was seriously getting to know Game Maker (used it from age 9, but exclusively the D&D features) after a couple of years hiatus.

Anyway, with a new, somewhat more serious project in the works, I'd like to share my new blog article. It's about my failure and how I see the industry and community today. A fresh start, simply put Smiley

The blog has been redesigned, so any feedback on the choice of colors etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you  Gentleman

The colors are good but the background doesn't work well with my resolution (1920x1080) - there is a line in the centre of the screen as the background is obviously tiled. Also it would probably work better with higher picture quality. The logo would also possibly look better with some colors and anti-aliasing. Replace the pale green on "8/08/2012" with something more vivid (turquoise would work nice I think). Main text color should be brighter as well. Also, some links get underlined on hover and some don't, you might want to fix that to get a more consistent style.

Sorry if I'm nitpicking. Smiley

Those are some excellent points. I've done what I can now to fix it. The underlining seems to be out of my control (blogger isn't that versatile, that I know of). Strange thing is that all links are underlined for me. I added a slight glow to the logo, might be more pleasing to the eye?

Tried fixing the background. The concern of it being low res I think stems from the filter I used to make it (noise, kind of). I've tried fixing that now, as well as increased the background size. My worry is that it might be too big, and affect performance on less powerful devices. Does it tile or does it "roll with the page?" Like, is it a static background that doesn't change position even though you scroll up/down?

And thank you!
