@petra your idea sounds cool. You are smart to think about an art style where you don't end up painting yourself into a corner. I sometimes think going with NO shading can be smart, since you just focus on shapes and color. Could work well for this since you've got a lot of different forms for your shapeshifter.

Anyways this is becoming a really awesome thread...

I want a game with a completely dynamic story. I want all the subtle nuances between characters as a real relationship.

Or in other words, I want a DnD computer game that's exactly like the tabletop version.

I was leaning towards the no shading thing but was afraid it would end up looking too clunky, but I've seen other people do it so surely I can work it! Maybe just the tiniest bit of AA will do the trick.

I'm glad you like the idea. I think I'm just gonna go for it! It's definitely the most doable idea I've had so far (that still remains interesting) and I have a lot of free time ahead of me before Christmas ... I don't need much encouragement, it seems. Shrug

I'd love to create a game like Seiken Densetsu 3 in a futuristic/steampunk world. Gunfights ftw.

Also, making a proper Secret Mana 3 would be awesome.

I'm dreaming about massive multiplayer online simulation which is built around RPG system.
And this is about "Shipwreck"

There would be hundreeds of islands (or maybe one bigger continents with smaller islands around / server) and you would start on the beach shipwrecked. There won't be any NPCs in general (or none at all at start) everything that should be there is you and other real people online. From there you should continue your way up to the island as you want.

- Examine flora an animals on the island
- Find out what is consumable and what not
- What is poisoned what not
- Find clear water
- Start seeding consumable plants
- Chop wood and build buildings
- Make boats, pikes and more
- Quarry stone and make your first money valute
- Explore more island and new small islands around
- Survive : drink and eat
- Start making first cloths
- MAKE A CIVILIZATION!

All that and many more, simple put - have free will and all paths open to start small.
I'm sure this is great idea for an awesome big game but I know it's hard even for big companies with huge budget to make something like that. Game design itself is tricky as I don't know what.

Yes? Smiley

a MMORPG where all the monster bosses would be real godlike entities and the player could approach them but would have zero chance to defeat them. Most of the small monster would also be very deadly.
The player could enter a cult and pray one of these godlike entities with varying results.

So... Cthulhu Online Wink

That would be amazing! An MMO based on Call of Cthulhu or just the mythos in general... ah.

It could be a cross between Monster Hunter and the Deity system in Everquest.

I would so play that.

And from time to time a medium sized monster would make a raid on a city and just swallow everybody who hasn't fled to the hills.

I had this idea when I realized how the monsters were ridiculous in traditinal MMOs, they're nothing more than colored pinatas. They look deadly but they are just like dummies.

I once read a rumor that the boss monsters in Final Fantasy 11 (the MMO) have a function where a GM can, at any time, jump into the monster and start choosing commands for it. The result being that a group of players who think they have the system all figured out are suddenly pitted against an intelligent human who is bent on choosing just the right attacks to foil their play.

I do not know if this is, was, or ever will be true but I think that would make for a very fun game. The players aren't dealing with logical entities that are limited by scripted behavior, and that would make them much more dangerous and possibly frightening.

Even a meager Goomba could be made into a serious threat with a human at the helm, guiding its actions, let alone a powerful boss monster.

I was thinking about the same system as well SirNiko. That would increase dynamics and difficulty of encounter. Of course, there are problems with balancing because it won't be fair that one group gets scripted boss which is most likely easier than one controled by GM.

But ye, it would be more than interesting.
