Hey there,
I've been lurking these forums for a while now, and seeing as I'm currently working on a game I thought I might contribute as well Smiley
I accidentally stumbled across these forums having seen a screenshot of Delver somewhere and found this forum through the Delver website. It opened a whole new world of insight into awesome games :D

Before this starts to get too long winded introducing myself and such, have a look at these screenshots Tongue

The Devs
Anyway. The game I'm working is actually for an independent game company called Logic Artists, and we're a small team (relatively) sitting in an office in Copenhagen making games for a living (Or,, right now, out of our own pocket). We're 6 people in the office but have a couple of guys around the world helping us out with various things, so we total in about 10 people.

We already have a blog where we write about our game over at www.logicartists.com, but I'm aiming for this to be a bit more of a personal devlog, seen through my eyes. And who am I, you might ask. I'm the graphic designer on the team and I'm in charge of making all the environment assets for the game, all the terrain and textures that go with that, as well as designing the UI. I also help out our game designer (Some you might know him as he was the lead designer on The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex) from time to time, fleshing out ideas and talking balancing.
I've done a fair bit of writing on our previous game, but the amount of stuff I need to make has kept me from writing any on the current game as of yet, but as we get further into production, I hope I can get started on that as well.

About the Game
The game is called Expeditions: Conquistador and is a story-driven, party-based RPG with tactical, turn-based combat. It's in Central America, around 1518 and tangents off on the idea of "What if someone had beaten Cortés to the punch?". We're inspired by historical events, but we also take certain liberties, for example by including some of the myths from that time.
It's a touchy subject to be sure, but also a very interesting one, and we try to include both sides of the same coin when writing the story. We're very much fans of story that present a complex story with lots of grey area, and lots of difficult choice and consequence, so that's what we're trying to create.

We have a trailer for our game here:
http://youtu.be/_E8CwIdCkcs

And some combat gameplay footage here, with commentaries:
http://youtu.be/-SrxYzbuNAM

http://youtu.be/9N3AeV-Zxys

And finally, our Kickstarter here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2128128298/expeditions-conquistador

One of the cool things about making this game is our custom event editor used for creating the dialogue and descriptions in the game. It's become quite powerful and even allows us to do a little bit of scripting now, such as setting variables and checking against them. The editor, called Fabula, takes a lot of inspiration from the Neverwinter Nights editor, but with our own twist on it. We're still expanding the editor as we go, but we're hoping we can release it at some point Smiley

I'm looking forward to reading what you think and suggestions are welcome. I plan on posting pictures of some of the assets I make, as I go along. Cheers!

Here's some buildings I finished last week. One of them is a re-texture because the first pass I had done in a hurry. This was my first try at UV mapping a building this way. I quite liked it, though a bit time consuming painting all the cracks and such, but the results are well worth it, I think.

Just finished one of the major buildings in the game, the Governor's mansion. It took a lot longer than the other buildings, mostly because there was a lot more to unwrap and details to paint. I'm pretty satisfied with it though Smiley

I retract my previous comment about this being pretty. Your game art is goddamn beautiful.

I can almost guarantee that if/when this game comes out I'll be buying it.

I'm afraid my faith in kickstarters is essentially nonexistent  Tongue

I do certainly wish you the best of luck, though!

I really like the look of this.  The visuals are looking nice, and I like that it's an RPG (a tactical RPG no less) that plays off a time period that hasn't been overused in games.

Ah, ok. That's too bad though :p We're going to give backers the demo as soon as the Kickstarter is finished. It's already in a playable state, with one campaign done.

The setting being so underused was one of the reasons why we chose to make a game around it Smiley

Got a few more models done Smiley My next tasks will be creating the ability icons for some new classes we're implementing. They don't take long to make, so I should be able to get a bunch done. I'll also soon be looking at polishing up our worldmap, and I'll be sure to post some screenshots of that once I get around to it Smiley

In the meantime, let me know what you think. The first is a sacrificial altar, which I might give a different texture and add some more detail. The other is a town gate.

The town gate might have one of those descending wooden thingies like other generic medieval gates, but I don't know how historically accurate that actually is.

Yeah, I tried finding evidence of the Arco San Juan using a portcullis, but the pictures from the angle I need are kind of sparse. I might go back and add it though, just because it would make sense Smiley
