The way it is, it seems that in the last worlds (X-5 to X-8), the clouds will disappear, the blocks on the right will break under the player, and those on the left will be inaccessible since a hand would jump from the water, making the players confined to the small area in the middle.
i drawed this thinkin of random eversions, not sequential eversions.
will the left blocks drop items when hit from underneath ?
sounds like a great idea for me ^^

The suggested stage design is far too cramped. There's nowhere to actually stand and fight.

I think an iconic DF stage should be formed from ASCII characters. The entire stage should be text-based.

Actually, DF is designed with tilesets in mind. In fact, the ASCII characters are graphical tiles with letters on them. Polls on the forum indicated that about half of all players use non-ASCII tilesets, so I think that a DF stage rather should incorporate typical 'Dorf stuff:

* Catsplosions (sudden moments of kittens everywhere)
* !!Cats!! that want to be petted (!!items!!-denoted are on fire, and fire spreads by touch, and Dorfs always pets cats.)
* Hidden Fun Stuff (in the lower levels (platforms) demons can attack you)
* Useless soap- and lye makers
* Dorfs smoothing walls and floors (could be slippery?)
* Dorfs (or even player characters) getting fey moods and running off to shut themselves into a workshop for a few seconds
* Huge amounts of stone and bone *mugs*, =flutes= and (toys)
* Mastercrafted statues and tables and chairs in a legendary dining room
* Wine loafs made with wine and finely chopped wine
* You lose stamina, and only drinking beer can restore it

What is there was a level that looked kind of like some code compiler, mainly flat and very plain but suddenly, large amounts of text scroll across the screen, then the stage turns into a stage made with basic shapes.

mainly playing with the idea of a stage called "The Source Code"

that or a knock off of that picto chat level in brawl, except your in a photo editor or something...

A lever that, when pulled, floods the siege workshop with magma.

Aye, levers, if possible with the engine, would be a given in a DF map.

It still has a lot of tiny platforms and small annoying platforms. It just looks unpleasant to fight on.

It looks like you're designing platformer levels, but they really aren't suited for a fighting game.

I pulled this Eversion stage plan off in like ten seconds.

Simple, even, gets the job done.
Note: Not necessarily drawn to scale.

I like your stage, but what exactly do you mean by "rock" ? Maybe you should also add plants and blocks (those that break under the player).

Also, don't you guys think that your suggestions for a DF stage are a little bit too complicated ? ^^ It should be very simple animations, like hangedman said.

If you've ever played Eversion, you know that at worlds 7 and 8 the rocks that have scattered the world up until then suddenly come to life. They're indestructible and cannot be killed.
Plants could be easily added. Personally, I'm not all that keen on the block idea though.

The rocks were only in the HD version. Not even a single rock in the original.

You could have blocks across the pit, so the pit is sometimes open and sometimes closed.

Silly, there were rocks in the free version of Eversion, just that they were added later. But yeah, they were there, want pictures? A play-through link, perhaps? Or, you could just download and play it.
