A lot of the people that played Eversion would have played the earlier version with no rocks though.

I downloaded the new version: Rocks don't even exist until world 5. New last level is SO HARD!!! One thing to note is that there is no random everting in the last level anymore.

Yes, but everyone knows that. Seriously, the newer version isn't really new. Nothing in it is news to anyone.

It's news to me and obviously I'm the most important one here.

Rocks are fine. The most important part of my earlier post was:
One thing to note is that there is no random everting in the last level anymore.
Which means it might be better to go sequential.

We could still do random eversions. I'm sure a lot of people remember it, and it works better for a fight then the last level of the new version.

We could go from 1 to 7 (or 8? I don't remember) back to 1 and so on.

I prefer random eversions, with some eversions (say 1-4) happening more than others (5-7), and stage 8 occurring extremely rarely, as all hell breaks loose there. In stage 8, evil death walls will appear on both sides of the stage, and anyone who even goes out of the screen for a moment gets insta-killed.

Also flying death hands.

I agree except for two points:

1. Evil death walls - This sounds like a bad idea to me. There's a reason there's normally some leeway.

2. Flying death hands - This hazard would take over the fight, and potentially just annoy everyone. Unless there were only a few and they were really slow.

The hands could be reduced in number. I'd like for the walls of death to stay, though. Keep in mind that world 8 will only appear super rarely, like, say, the chances of getting Dialga in the Spear Pillar stage.

Or anyone who isn't Cresselia, for that matter.  Tongue

Pah, I never got cresselia, got palkia all the time, and dialga maybe 35% of the time. As for the hands, I think they'd be fine if they kept the move speed, hitboxes, and occurance rate of the side scrolling level in which they appeared. Honestly, those hands are tame in comparison to...say...the deathworm level.

The deathworm gives ample warning, is predictable, and doesn't come too often. Those hands could potentially take over the battle. If they're going in, we have to be very careful about it.

Went back and played eversion again to see. I dont think the hands would be too much of a problem at all they came about twice as often as the deathworm attacks, and kept the eversion hitboxes (most of the sprite doesn't connect, only about 3/4ths the read hand).

imo as long as 8 is super fucking rare it would be fine if the hands took over the battle for a few seconds

It doesn't matter if an unfair hazard is rare. It's still unfair.

The problem with flying hands is that they would dominate the battle and turn it into a dodge-fest. There's no comparison to the death worm, which appears very infrequently (only about once every 15 seconds) and with ample warning.

The black on the side bulges for a second or two before a hand pops out. They don't need to be frequent.
I think the black shouldn't kill you, but just block your vision while recovering.
