They should make a bundle of Prison Architect and McPixel and sell it for $100. Some people here would have an aneurysm. Giggle

I don't think this is them selling alpha testing (I can't find anywhere on the internet that says that except in this thread which provides 0 sources), they're just selling the alpha version in the form of a pre-order for the game. not really a big deal, people do it all the time these days.

From the article on Eurogamer

$30 (£18.50) to play the Prison Architect alpha sounds like a lot to me. But I'm told that's sort of the point. "We want fewer people who are more involved," Chris Delay explained. "A smaller number of people who are really involved in the game and really want to contribute to the alpha process and really want to get stuck in; they want to post on the forums, they want to talk to us about their thoughts about the game. Rather than the mass, mainstream, millions of people that have paid 10 cents each who are actually immediately pissed off because the game doesn't work properly and they expect it to be finished already."

so it's not quite there but close.

I don't really like buying broken games, but that's why I don't buy alphas.
Imagine there is an alpha version of metal gear solids or street fighters. How would you feel about that methodology?

I... couldn't care at all?

I feel like you're going somewhere with this, but I have no idea where.

Okay some alphas are awesome.

I think most people would be extremely pleased if SF had betas instead of endless sequels...

Or just Alpha 4!
