Sounds like a good idea. Kind of like a L4D2 Jockey, but you can still attack.

Reversed controls for a few seconds? I'm not sure how appropriate that is, as I haven't really played Obake. But It would certainly be more fair than totally removing a player's control.
IIRC reversed-controls were long-ago classed as being almost as frustrating as completely losing control; a concept I totally agree with, as a player. I'm afraid I've got little more to add, though I stand by the rest.

And if we don't use this idea, better not put Obake at all, because I don't see what else we could use

Reversed controls are a challenge, and it confuses the player. But it doesn't remove their control entirely. It's actually rather an effective way of simulating a confused (or drunk) character. But it's probably not a good idea in a fighting game, unless it allows the target to be invincible for a very short time so they can get away from the fight (as that's probably how the player would want to deal with it).

I'm just posting in here to say that I discovered that Jun'ya Ota (AKA ZUN) actually appears to have a Facebook. I don't know Japanese, so I only he can speak enough English to understand me. I will see how this goes!
Edit: I have sent him a message in english; I hope he understands it well enough.

has anyone considered asking introversion whether we could use anything from darwinia or defcon? a darwinian stage or a defcon nuke in a tigbox would be awesome or how about cliffski from positech to see if we can use a gratuitous space battles ship for a corneria type stage?

To be honest, none of those ideas really appeal to me. A Darwinia stage could be okay, but Darwinian landscapes aren't really that interesting. A nuke wouldn't work because it would be overpowered, it isn't a character, and it's not unique to its game. None of the ships from GSB are iconic enough to be a stage.

funny question. if "Cave Story" belongs to Nintendo now, why are we considering adding "N" stuff if it has a sequel both on NDS and PSP? who has the rights now? is pixel death and nicalis stole his brain?

Cave Story's permission was denied, most likely due to the Wii port. Either Nicalis owns the rights to Cave Story, or Pixel owns the rights but did not want the content included.
N is, to my knowledge, still owned by Metanet. If it turns out that they no longer own the rights, though, then we would have to ask whatever company currently owns them.

so we got 2 options about quote and Cave Story: 1)Nintendo/Nicalis has the rights and it doesn't matter how many times we insit they're gonna say "no, no permission for you". the funny thing about this is that Nintendo gives a fuck if fans or other guys do games/forums/stuff with their characters and games because they know they can't stop that. 2)Pixel owns the rights and for some reason he doesn't want us to have any Cave Story stuff on game. this is, by far, the best posibility. maybe the day somebody sent him the email he wasn't on a good mood but maybe he is now. maybe if we send him an email now he'll say "今引用符を使用することができます" wich means "you can use quote now". shall we send him an email or something O.O?

Dude, there are ZERO options for Quote. A lot of people have tried contacting Nicalis and Pixel about the issue, it's a no-no situation. They denied permission. If you keep insisting, they'll keep denying.
Nicalis owns the rights so it's not up to Pixel's approval.
Also, it's not up to Nintendo. IT'S ALL ABOUT NICALIS. Nintendo doesn't give a shit about Quote appearing here or there.
Stop talking about Quote in IB. It won't happen, at least not in the current situation. Move on, for God's sake.

Frikman, I don't think you really understand the concept of Intellectual Property. Nicalis said we are not allowed to use IP from Cave Story, so we can't legally use it.
And this was not the result of a single email. The refusal came after a number of emails and IM conversations.
