a charming platformer with an interesting concept...the description text says "The Game is a retro-styled platformer where moral choices guide your progression through six lifetimes."

i played the game for about an hour (then i got stuck) and i have to say it is a really great and very promising game.
a beautiful exploration platformer experience that pays much attention to the details!
from the communication through pics, over the fine music and the mission based gameplay and the lovely graphics.
really good stuff.

Zombpocalypse
40 MB
http://www.zombpocalypse.com/

zombpocalypse is a promising arena shooter where your aim is to...well to blast zombies away of course. with the help of the usual arsenal of weapons (machine gun, shotgun, rocket launcher...) you fight against hordes of zombies on 7 different maps.
the game got some inspiration by shaun of the dead i think Wink

the graphics are pretty good but the devlopment is on hold cause the developer got demotivated because of the lack of interest in his game.
(the reasons can be found in his blog)

the project has potential but it lacks in my opinion in the gameplay section...
because of the fact that this game is the effort of one man he could need some help in the further development.

its worth to download and check it out. and to give the developer some honest feedback and suggestions to improve the game.
(i think the movement could be improved, some crazy powerups, rage mode, maybe XP Points like in crimsonland, the splatter effects could be improved (some zombies explode when they meet a rocket and some go only down with no sign of a flesh wound and then they dissapear.)

nontheless this game has potential as already mentioned.
i recommend to watch the trailer and then to give the game a try!

the game is still in development and already very promsising.

jayenkai (developer of the excellent alien deathmatch 1+2 [arena shooter greatness] and centipong [breakout on drugs] ) has made a new very cool fast paced asteroids clone with mouse controls.
shoot the rocks and avoid the fragments that are caused by the explosion.
collect powerups like: tripleshoot, doubleshoot, shield, freeze and bomb.

it features online hi scores and abstract and nice swooshy graphics.
its also pretty hard.
oh and if you want to have a not so frantic and more easier gameplay then hit TAB to start the game.
its the "chill mode" which has no exploding fragments included.
(the hiscores will be not submitted to the hiscore table in that mode...)

for fullscreen mode:
Just open the program using -full as its parameter.
right click the icon, create shortcut, and add -full to the target...
it should look like this

demo available

"The Little Things is a puzzle-platformer with a focus on exploration and collection. There aren't very many places you can die and the generally twitch controls are downplayed. The point of the game is to explore your world both above and below ground and collect the titular Little Things -- small living beings that can survive in tiny glass flasks and cages, which range from small insects and tiny creatures to worldly spirits and magical wisps. As a Lomite Collector, your primary task is to explore the fantastic world and collect these tiny things in their natural and unnatural environments, but along this path you'll also find yourself selling and trading them to interested buyers for specific equipment and tools, visiting strange people and places, and encouraging metamorphosis of your Little Things through animistic and alchemical means.
In short, it's Knytt meets Pokémon, without the combat."

a promising platform shooter which is heavily influenced by contra and metal slug.
(more contra similarities though).

the graphics and controls are fine but the game lacks in level design, and overall difficulty problems...
(the 1st level is pretty good but the later are lacking)
this game has some good potential and could be really good with some work on the mentioned issues.

i recommend to give the 4 level demo a try
(but consider that the keyboard is not working when a gamepad is plugged in...the developer said that this problem will be solved in the next release)

also interesting:
warhogs revamped is a remake of warhogs.
i played through the 5 levels in 20 minutes and it was pretty fun despite some flaws.
heres a gameplay video of the whole first level (with boss fight that was quite a bit unfair Wink
( 3:34 min / 17 MB - 640 x 480 MP4)

moreover some already finished worthwhile freeware platform shooters to check out:

hurrican (tribute to turrican. 5 years in development)

t2002 (remake of turrican 2)

t4funeral (tribute with t2002 engine)

streambolt desero (short but fun with similarities to gunstar heroes)

http://www.secretmaryo.org/

well i played an earlier version of this game (i think it was a pre 1.2 release) and found it not so good.
anyways...2 days ago there was released version 1.8 and i thought give it another try...
the improvements are notable and its now an ok game but still it cannot be compared to the greatness of the good old plumber.  Wink

controls are a bit slippery and some animations and graphics (the turtles) are meh...but that aside its a nice effort so far.
the fact that the developers are working and improving it and that it is a multi platform game (win, mac, linux) make it good enough to keep an eye on the further development.

Gameplay Video

an interesting fps with many similarities to metroid prime.
played this game when i first heard about it via tim on his former indygamer blog.
as far as i remember it was pretty decent...it was version 1.x or something...
today i stumbled over this game again and found out that there was released a version 2.0 called
another bound neo.
unfortunately the game doesnt work on my pc...
maybe it works for you...

and maybe someone know what to do to solve this issue....
anyways here is the older version another bound 1.1.8 which works on my pc.
the game is in japanese (except the menu) and therefore...well its not an easy task to follow the story line if you dont speak japanese.

according to the readme another bound neo 2.0 was released 24.01.2008.
would be interesting to know what are the differences to version 1.1.8 and whether or not this game is still in development...

a playable early version with simple graphics can be downloaded here but the whole game will be remade according to adam: "Based on my Mouse-controlled entry recently, I have decided to remake the game, but add more to the gameplay and improve the graphics. "

Indie Brawl is a multiplayer, 2-dimensional fighting game that pits some of the most famous characters from indie games against each other.  The game will have simple and intuitive controls, a wide variety of characters and attacks, and fast-paced battles with platforming elements.  The game should be easy to learn, but have enough depth that it's enjoyable for a broad range of players.

Quote
What is 8BITARHERO?

8BITar Hero is basically Rock Band except with a Nintendo emulator generating the music and levels.

Gameplay levels that are procedurally generated from the act of playing a game. One person plays NES games on an emulator, others play a Rock-Band game with levels that are generated algorithmically from the audio code of the NES game. The focus here is the generative nature of the game, and the process by which the levels are created.
