Wow, Magic Pockets remake. The second level (at least in the version I played - some levels are different on different platforms) was one of the best platformer levels of all time, they'd better keep that intact.

Ninja: Party IMPACT!
Project Page
Download Demo

a promising ninja platformer.
double jump, wall jump, dive jump, slash...yummy fruits and smooth controls.
i recommend to play through the short test level. pretty fun. Smiley

the second demo is out.
i made a gameplay video (well my playthrough of the demo level is partially quite a bit embarassing...but anyways here it is  Wink

(i think the fighting system needs a bit work...for example at 0:16 and 0:23 i got hit 2 times because there is a gap where you cannot attack. and therefore you are vulnerable big time. not very nice).

Microbes
2 MB
http://www.agameaweek.com/2009/06/microbes/

jayenkai made a really cool and fast paced remake of an old amiga game.
swirl around full circle and shoot, shoot, shoot.
plus use the bullet-time wisely (will be recharged when you not use it)

completely mouse controlled:
move mouse to go around.
left mouse button to shoot.
right mouse button for bullet-time mode.

as usual with online high scores. Wink

Luca's Contra/turrican/metroid "thing" (working title)
http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=437544

a promising platform shooter with keyboard controls. (no mouse aiming)
albeit the current demo doesnt show much gameplay mechanics except weapon testing and jumping around, it already shows a project with some good potential:

2 little demo builds are available.
the first without enemies and the second with a few helicopters.

Castlevania - The Bloodletting

Gameplay Video 1
Gameplay Video 2

a very promising castlevania game.
about 80% of the game is finished.

Quote
Any die hard Castlevania fan will know that there is an unreleased game for the Sega 32X that was canceled called Castlevania - The Bloodletting. The Sega 32X was not selling well and Konami feared to release the game on it, so they reworked what they had and made Symphony of the Night.

...I have opted to use the unused Belmont sprite (some call him Hanz Belmont) and craft my own tale of the long lineage of the legendary Belmont's.

The Rim
9 MB (version 0.21)
Development Thread
Gameplay Video (Free-Play Mode) - Highscore Hunt -
Gameplay Video (Story Mode)

The Rim is a promising horizontal shooter with emphasis on destryoing thousands of asteroids.
(game features also online highscores)
power up your ship with lots of different weapons and use z powers when needed.

the game has also a story mode.
in that mode you control a little space cat (in a platformer kind of way)
and talk to others, upgrade your ship and enter different missions.

controls:
cursor keys - movement
space - shoot
z - bomb-styled approach

Links Awakening Remastered
http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?view=main&id=1614

A remake of the gameboy game Link's Awakening, featuring updated graphics (SNES) and interface.

"We've had some questions on the terms of "remake". To clarify, this is a "Remastering" of Link's Awakening DX for Gameboy Color. Our game is featuring updated graphics, an updated game engine (will run on the SNES engine), remixed music, and a few changes in the overworld to accomodate the engine switch. The storyline and game script, however, will remain unchanged. No worries, we are not "ruining" the game"

The Blue Forest
http://leebleforest.wordpress.com/

I have just found out about The Blue Forest, which appears to be rather unknown as of now.

It seems to be a classic RPG in the vein of the Secret of Mana series, made using the RPG Maker XP if I didn't get that wrong. There is a 4-5 hours long demo which I haven't tried, yet, but at the very least it sure looks beautiful:
http://leebleforest.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/izaya-with-sunbeams.png
http://supershigi.googlepages.com/ImprovedLeebleVillage2.jpg
More info and the demo can be found there: http://leebleforest.wordpress.com/
On the blog it says that she hopes to release the game around the end of 2009, but I don't know if that plan is still up-to-date.

It's being developed by Laura Shigihari, a sound artist, composer, singer and apparently also not a bad graphic designer and developer Grin I actually found out about her through this cute Plants vs. Zombies music video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N1_0SUGlDQ (She did the sounds and soundtrack for that game)

The Underside makes me really happy. It looks like a more action-based version of Cave Story (which is pretty much all I've ever wanted).

We need more Gunstar Heroes-type games.

Solar Blue: shmup - demo available.
most superfluous game evar WTF
I swear 99.9% of that game is particle effects.
My computer all chugged 'n ish.
The boss explosions were just...
The minibosses were by far the most compelling part though, and the enemies progressed nicely. lvl 3 was decently varied, but it ran at a constant 10-15 fps.
I just wish the targeting reticule would move faster, and that it ran better for me. Seems like (would/could/may be) a pretty cool game.

On the others:
Woah, these all look pretty awesome. Never heard of any of 'em, 'xcept Blastforce. Looking forward with delight.

I know that everyone is hyping this, and it runs pretty well and faithful to the Sonic series, but seriously, I can't look at that Sonic, it just doesn't feel right.

Any specific reasons? It was made off the old sprites.
