TrashMan
Feedback Thread
DevLog Thread
Gameplay Video

i thought i already posted about this very promising 2.5D platform shooter which is heavily influenced by mega man...but recognized yesterday that i havent mentioned it here yet.

the game has great graphics and oldschool gameplay. really good stuff.
i recommend to play it with a gamepad. that is possible with this fine piece of software called joytokey.

its been said that there will be a beta version in the not so distant future.

AuthenticKaizen, thank you for the positive press about Trashman! As far as I know, you are the first person outside of the development team to post anything about the game. That's right folks, you heard it hear first on AuthenticKaizen's Promisingly Good Freeware Games in Development!  Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right

I would also like to point out that Trashman naively supports Xbox360 controllers. Support for other controllers may be on the way!

PITIRI
TDC Project page
Blog
Homepage
Gameplay Video

platformer with an interesting style.

Quote from: the project page
Pitiri is gonna be a Jump n Run game
with main focus on physics (loads of phys-riddles, traps and stuff) and
some adventure / rpg elements.

Its all about a little creature/guy, that can transform into 3
(more to come) different elemental forms:

The main character can talk with others and jump.
The bubblefish can float with the wind (so you can get from
one cliff to the next for example)

and the tonball is very heavy, can break through walls and sinks
like a stone in water.

Hellycopter (v. 1.0.1)
3 MB
http://yarilostudio.ru/games/hellycopter
Google Translated Site

a very nice helicopter game that plays with physics.
you have to fly from A to B and rescue blue creatures
with your grappling hook while killing red ones with your gun.

first heard about it from ortoslon when he recommended that it should be on the frontpage.
wanted to check it out but unfortunately forgot about it...
well today i spotted it again on bytejacker
(gameplay video from 6:53 - 7:20)
and remembered that i wanted to give this game a try.
and so i checked it out.
its a good game, i like it.
i have to say that it definitely deserves to be featured on the frontpage.

controls:
WASD - for
G - extend / bring in your lannding feet
1 - grappling hook
2 - gun
LMB  - fire the grappling hook / gun

VVVVVVVV
http://distractionware.com/blog/?p=858

spotted this platformer with a great sense of retro feeling on indiegames blog...
since it is made by terry im pretty sure that this one will be pretty good.
so...lets follow the progress of this old school project.

a few seconds of gameplay material on bytejacker.
looks good.

Pike Warrior
http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?id=1196
Gameplay Video

the short gameplay video looks very promising.
a fine platformer in which you use your pike (beside combat action purposes) as a helicopter.
unfortunately this game is on hold but the developer said that he
"...might pick it back up again some day!"

lets hope so Smiley

the developer thomas vine made the very enjoyable platformers
paroxysm (dl mirror) and plasma warrior (dl mirror)

Links Awakening Remastered
http://www.create-games.com/project.asp?view=main&id=1614

A remake of the gameboy game Link's Awakening, featuring updated graphics (SNES) and interface.

"We've had some questions on the terms of "remake". To clarify, this is a "Remastering" of Link's Awakening DX for Gameboy Color. Our game is featuring updated graphics, an updated game engine (will run on the SNES engine), remixed music, and a few changes in the overworld to accomodate the engine switch. The storyline and game script, however, will remain unchanged. No worries, we are not "ruining" the game"

That map is based on Ocarina of Time, though.

EDIT: I get it.  That's showing off the level editor.

ShockMaze
http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/action/shockmaze/375/
Gameplay Video

a vertical scrolling shooter with smooth controls and fine gameplay mechanics.
when you bump into walls it gives you speed and shocking power
(which means you can destroy enemies in that state)
when you are in shock mode press C to stop swirling around.

bigger enemies have to be pumped up with your bullets (press X for that)
and then busted with your shocking magic. (reminded me partially of dig dug)
make your way through the maze and enter warp zones to get beamed around
and leave each level with the appropriate next level zone.

window size can be increased with right mouse button in the beginning.
colors can be changed with F3.

would be cool to see that game more fleshed out since its pretty good.

Gameplay Video (1:30 min / 5 MB)
(couldnt capture it better. the flickering looks better in game than in this clip)

No sweat.  I was more surprised than anything else.  Surprised that I'm such a goddamn huge nerd that I could instantly recognize a 2d rendering of the start town in Ocarina.  God help me.

It has been picked as the first place winner of the gamejolt competition, which makes me a happy fellow  Hand Shake Left Durr...? Hand Shake Right

I'm working on an update, and maybe a level editor.
Here's another video of it (without flickering) :
