I don't get it! It more and more seems like a viral campaign (that YouTube clip was embarrassing), but where are the ads on the site?  Huh?

Five months ago, I spoke to him and he told me that he'll start up a small studio with a group of friends.

Are you sure the person you spoke to was real Robert Pelloni?

And if that's the case think about how many people will pirate his game. More people will play it in the end, AND he'll make more money in the end. It's pretty much win-win for him

How? How is that win-win for him? It's not that I refuse to believe that, it's just that I simply do not understand that. A whole lot of people played World of Goo, but from what I've read in another thread their publisher had to file bankruptcy because of the high pirate rate. If anything that tells us that more people do NOT equal more money. More purchases equal more money.

And except for XBLA, which may be his only lifeboat in this, he doesn't seem to be publishing this on any pirate-proof systems (and I'm not even sure if XBLA is still pirate-proof). iPhone can be cracked, Android and OpenPandora I do not know but are very likely, seeing their Open Source nature, Steam is anything but pirateproof and PSP is even easier than the DS.

microsoft would never greenlight it.

The publisher of world of goo did not go bankrupt because of world of goo, they went bankrupt for other reasons completely unrelated to world of goo -- it was like, they were going bankrupt and even world of goo couldn't save them from it. Also the publisher of world of goo didn't develop the game, they just published it, they were a middleman between the developers and some (but not all) of the customers.

Which is not to say that piracy didn't hurt world of goo; it did. It just didn't bankrupt anybody.

That said, I don't think he's after money. I think he's more after attention: fame, notoriety, whatever. So it's win-win for him in terms of attention. There are some people who are just attention-mongers, who'd do anything for it, and I think he's one.

Which is not to say he's not *also* after money, but I think it's primarily fame he's after, and money second.

When you are famous, money is significantly easier to come by.

Holy shit, a new video with voice acting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRrEakRSfSk&eurl=http://www.bobsgame.com/

Seems like Bob's really doing some kind of viral marketing campaign.

Where's there voice acting?

Well, I don't care to interpret why Bob does this, et cetera. But that was pretty cool.

It kinda decreased my expectations of the game... Does it really take 8 minutes of "blah blah blah blah blah" to get the point across? If the game is like this, I think I will use the "skip dialogue" button a lot. If there is such a button... Screamy

So...Bob's Game is about Bob's Game.

This presents us with a new problem; Is Bob just being bitter here, or is he really good at doing recursiveness?

He made the game all by itself, right? I mean, that's the SLOGAN.

So, I don't think the women in this game will sound very good.

That is if there are any. If Bob's Game really is about Bob's Game then I think there won't be that many women involved.

I don't really think that's a scene from his game, it's just him making a scene

Or, it IS a a scene, but the voices are not in the game.

Either way, it was beyond cringeworthy. I couldn't watch more than a minute.
