This is a TIGSource Free Form Competition.

What is TIGSource?  You're sitting in it.

What is Free Form?  Any format goes! But the game must at least run on Win32 platforms.  Sorry.

TIGSource competitions are short competitions based around a particular theme. The emphasis is on collaboration, sharing, and, most of all, the completion of projects. In other words, it's an exercise in making small, tight, enjoyable/interesting games that can be played from beginning to end. There are no prizes involved - the game itself is the prize!

What is the theme of this competition?

The theme of this competition is SPORTS.

Oh, sports video games! Whether it's the NFL or the Mutant League, Tony Hawk or Mike Tyson, Track & Field or QWOP... sometimes there's nothing better than enjoying your favorite athletic activity from the comfort of your couch. And with so many sports out there, from the mainstream to the imaginary, I can't think of a better theme for this long-due TIGSource Competition!

Wikipedia References: List of Sports, Sports Video Games

Start Date: Thursday, November 1st

End Date: Saturday, December 1st, Midnight

How to Enter: Create a thread for your project right here in the Sports Compo forum and document the progress of your game in it.

When you finish your entry, please add it to the "Finished Entries" thread that will appear partway through the competition.

Rules: Entries should be started and ended within the time frame of the competition (feel free to put up your game threads and begin brainstorming earlier, though) and must be made for the competition (submitting the game to other jams/competitions running at the same time is okay, though). Collaborations are allowed and, in fact, are welcomed. You may submit more than one game (up to a maximum of three).

It's perfectly okay to reuse old code and pre-built engines and/or frameworks. It's only the game itself that needs to be done in the compo's timeframe.

Ownership: Your game is your own, TIGSource holds no rights to any games made in the compo. You may do as you wish, including selling, distributing, and making sweet love to your creation.

Let's do it!

Ima make a game about football.
It'll have a twist ending where it turns out you're actually playing football.

I've always wanted to create a football game where the game... is not exactly football. Just a game where the ball must get to the touchdown line, where your objective consists on avoiding players from the other team. Just the parts I do enjoy from football: run, pass, avoid enemy players... Um... I may be in!

Anyone gonna make up their own sport to make a video game of? I'd love to see some more sports that use frisbees. Ultimate Frisbee and frisbee Golf are great and all, but not since that frisbee volleyball hybrid arcade game have frisbees been as cool as they deserve to be  Durr...?
