hey, i just registered here as well as that i just started as an indie game developer.
i've been working with a group of four guys calling ourselves Spectre games.

so here's a game still in the works. It's called Compuman.
It's about an old computer in a big world full of computer science. He wants hardware upgrades, new OS's and lots more. So the player moves around in a world full of computer stuff.
eliminating computer virusses, bugs and spyware on the way. he also collects data stored on floppy disks and cd's for score.

here is a link for some screenshots. the site is just new, so i haven't got the time to make a nice design and lots of content just yet, but i will in the future.  Smiley

also keep in mind that i'm not the best artist in the world. I just made this out of hand real quick. The other guys in our team will start making some better content soon.

Tell me what you think Smiley

Sounds like an alright concept, is it just a classic sort of platformer?

Hard to see how much fun / what it'd play like from still screens. Maybe post a gameplay video?

alright. here is a little gameplay video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zNhhEBMKv8&feature=youtu.be

it shows the basics of the game. i have to look into the computer components now. and other
little debug stuff. and yes, its a classic sort of platformer. in fact, i was playing commander keen: the armageddon machine ( link: http://www.commander-keen.com/the-armageddon-machine.php ) via dosbox and a friend of mine said: lets make something simple like that. so thats basicly where its based on. even the controls are retro stylish. ( you might hear me pressing ctrl and space in the video Tongue )

cool start! I think for me the biggest thing that sticks out is your linear up-down jumping, it'd feel a lot more natural if you jump up fast, slow down towards the top of the jump arc, and accelerate back towards the ground. I reckon you'd see a big improvement to the feel of playing the game.

keep it up! I was a big fan of Crystal Caves back in the day, which had that same Commander Keen feel to it Smiley

thanks for the kind reply Smiley and yeah we we're talking about that a few days ago. Juiche ( another guy at the team ) suggested jumping animations as well. then I thought about a computer fan sticking out to propell compuman upwards. but then it's flying, not jumping. I still have to discuss this with the artists. I hope andrewjb will join us, he's artwork is awesome Smiley

I like the sprites, but I think the blue-on-blue backgrounds would look better if they were more colorful.

enemies now take multiple hits before going down.

though im really looking for an artist but no one has yet replied to my post in the un-paid work section.
