Extra Credits' James declares Papers Please as his favorite game of the year at about 7:30 and then goes on to explain why. Well done! Beer!

So apparently, someone has made a mod for Civilization 5 that adds a map of Arstotzka. That's when you know you're game has made it.

Hello Lucas!

First of all congratulations for Papers, Please! Truly one of my favourite games ever. Since you're writing a post-mortem, I would like to ask you is to elaborate a little more on the technical side of the development, for us programmers (I know you wrote some brief notes about the code at the beginning of the project, but I'd like to know more). For example, you used Haxe/NME to build it: how was the experience? Would you recommend it to other developers working on similar projects? One big selling-point of Haxe/NME is the supposedly "free" multiplatform support, but I guess that it isn't so easy: what are/were the biggest problems when porting Papers, Please to different platforms? (And, on a related note, what about iOS?)

Thank you!

It's been a crazy few weeks. First the BAFTAs and now IGF. I started this game as a small experiment and it's exploded beyond all of my expectations. Here's a recap:

I have a bunch more postmortem stuff I want to finish; including a lot of detailed info on the localization process. That'll hopefully get posted over the next month or so while I'm taking a bit of a break. All the recent travel has really worn me out. After that I'll dive back into a new, smaller project.

It's not a mario or fps or a roguelike with a twist, what did you expect? being ignored?  Giggle
That's what happen when you make an in depth exploration of a mechanics that ties to a fantasy and have internal twist of its own. It was a good jobs since day one  Gentleman I'm not surprise at all!  Hand Thumbs Up Left
