OK, so this game is incredible! Inticreates has done a great job, and each level has a unique type of "platform" and a section that requires mastery of it, so even for a series so stale it feels new at times. A lot of these "platforms" seem completely new to me, and I think it's amazing that there is still some innovation to be done in such a simple game type. I've only beat a few of the Robot Masters, but I've been very impressed with it so far, and the music is, as usual in a Mega Man game, really really incredible!
Assuming this sells well, us Action Platformer junkies may be in for a good couple of years!

Lady Boy Love Collection rip-off. Sorry, that reply wasn't too helpful. Thanks for sharing your impressions with us though

It's harder than the NES ones, from what I hear.

I only played the original Gameboy one.
I don't see how they could make it harder... that was fucking insane.

I still don't understand what people say when they call the original Megaman games hard. I never had any trouble. Besides, I'm sure you guys also beat IWBtG.

This game is fun. I simultaneously hate and love the sections I like to call "Fuck You Zones".

I don't think so. Some stages are quite brutal, but others are really really easy. If you've got some action platforming skills, then it really isn't that bad. It's definitely easier than I expected. Admittedly I haven't played any Classic Series games past 3 (which I haven't gotten around to fully beating), but I'm a huge fan of MM2, and this is probably the best Classic Series game since that. It just does things so right. Still, I think Mega Man peaked at Zero 3 for the GBA; I have yet to play an Action Platformer as fun as that. Besides, I'm sure you guys also beat IWBtG.
Nope, I have a life, and my dignity. "Fuck You Zones".
Tornado Man by any chance? Even though his stage is the hardest I've encountered, I fought him first because he's a direct rip off from the MM Zero series character Harpuia, who happens to be my favorite character of that whole series. So, I sucked it up and played that stage until I won it; had to buy an E-Tank though...

I heard there's no charge shot that's only in the micro transaction for protoman?
If this is true, it would make Santa vomit with rage.

I'm pretty sure it's true. But the lack of charge shot is definitely a good thing. I heard the designer said that when there is no charge shot, players will use the Robot Master's weapons. When there is, people just spam charge shot, and the game isn't meant to be played like that. I have to definitely agree with that, as I'll end up defaulting to charge shot unless I'm forced not to (and I have ended up using the Robot Master's weapons in this game).
As for the micro-transactions (let me emphasize "micro," some are literally $1), I can't say I like it, but the game is only $10 to begin with, which I think is a steal.

If I had a Wii I might check this out, though I must say I find Megaman 1+2 on the NES to be extremely brutal.
They are what put hair on my chest... Also playing Contra on hard made my penis HUGE! I wish...

I think I've realized what makes this game so good: level design.
The gameplay itself is so simply, but the levels have been designed so well that you never notice.
Because of this, I'm starting to wonder if developers have been using complex gameplay as a way to not need as well designed levels.

I'm sorry, Hideous, but I'm afraid our friendship contract may become void because of this. I believe it's somewhere under subsection C.

I didn't really like the game either. I can't quite put my finger down on why, though. It just doesn't really appeal to me as other games do.
I also found it to be kinda "just unfair hard" as opposed to the IWBTG "hilariously unfair hard". But I may just be pampered by our modern videogames.
I think what really makes the game hard though is how sparse checkpoints are distributed, which kinda makes the difficulty seem "artifical" to me.
So, bottom line, I don't think the game's bad or anything. It's a great game. It's just really not my cup of tea.

To tell the bitter truth, I never really played Mega Man. Only now, after getting Mega Man 9, I have gone back to the first two and played those. So this is my perspective of a person fresh to the series.
GAMEPLAY:
Simple but refined to the point of perfection... I was a bit thrown off by the lack of acceleration in his running as I'm accustomed to in Mario titles, but I soon got used to it. The steal items from bosses bit is ingenious... although I eventually had to look up the boss order online. Because this fucker is HARD. (I went back and played Mega Man 2 recently on VC... I'm gonna say it's even harder than that.) You'll die a million billion times if you don't know the order. But... I had a blast the whole time somehow. I'm not really a fan of blisteringly difficult games that challenge your reflexes and pattern memorization skills- I usually like games that challenge the mind more- but man this is amazing good. It's the only "hard" game (aside from Mega Man and MM2) that I've ever really enjoyed to the point of me giving it a huge recommendation like this.
PRESENTATION:
Genius. Possibly my only issue is the intro... it goes by REALLY SLOW. Other than that, it's amazing perfect. Your menu is simple, options are limited (although turn off legacy mode unless you LIKE sprite flickering). It pretty much cribs it all from Mega Man 2, but there are actually a few things from newer games in it, like the addition of Rush, the shop, a bare-bones story, and stuff like that. Also, there is a brand new feature - a built-in Achievements feature (called Challenges) that'll keep you playing for a long time. Oh yeah, and the music. It's incredible. Some of the best 8-bit music I've ever heard... of course, second only to Mega Man 2.
Wow... I didn't actually intend for this to be a "review", but I supposed it came out that way. Ah well...

I might get stomped for this but, it was meh.
First off, I'm know they're shooting for 8 bit graphics, but even for 8-bit, these look pretty bad. I definitely remember Mega Man enemies having a bit more detail than shown in 9. Especially the bosses. The bosses are just UGLY. Hard to look at ugly. Hornet Man and Galaxy Man just look like blobs of grey/brown.
The Music is pretty good. this stuff is growing on me quick.
My big complaint though is a lack of a password system. Sure, it saves your progress and what-not, but if they wanted to give us a real 'Old School' MM experience, then why the hell am I SAVING? Did I save my data in Mega man 2? Did I save it in Mega Man 5? So why am I saving in Mega Man 9? Oh? Because the PS3 HAS a hard drive and can save data? Bullshit. It can also produce awesome looking graphics, so why the hell am I playing with 8-bits? The whole idea is full of holes.
