new nintendo may be stupid.. but...

they'll come around.. give them time.
I sure hope you're right.  And like I said, their new hardware is great; best in the industry (Audiosurf on Balance Board = Awesome!), it's just the software to go along with it that's been lacking (with a few exceptions, of course).

Nintendo has always been like this... my beloved powerglove is just an example. They have always thought outside the box with their products. Nintendo takes their time with their development, they aren't afraid to be the last ones to come into a new trend, too. Like, moving into the 16-bit era with the SNES.

The Wii is a great console, it's just they have the wrong attitude with making family gaming... Or maybe they have the right idea and because we're the hardcore gamers we're the ones with the problem with it, and notice it? I don't know. But Nintendo will realize it's flaws and mistakes and build on them, like in the past.
The powerglove was Mattel, iirc.

Your mom was Mattel, iirc.... OH SNAP  Beer!

even in normal game to game sequel franchises features are removed and given this is not that crazy.

but on the subject, i want to play it but i have no wifi to acquire it.

Have you tried a Wii lan adapter? I use one and it works a treat, it lets you use a normal network cable to hook up the wii to a router whenever you want to go online.

I just beat the 8 bosses last night, and tried Wily's castle once - got served by the boss  Cry

I'll probably try again tonight and see if I can get further.

So far:
-The difficulty is perfect, to me (regardless of where it is in relation to the other Mega Man games).
-As with all the retro MMs, the music rocks.  Except the menu music, which might've been good if it weren't a very repetitive 2-second-long high-pitched loop  WTF
-It SUCKS that there is no way (that I know of) to restart a stage or return to the level select without getting game over or hitting reset.  And for that matter: what's the point of taking off an extra life and not refilling the player's energy if they don't reach a checkpoint?  I know that's how the old games did it but it was annoying then too, and it just seems like some sort of bastard-child feature from games ported over from arcade versions, when they had to punish you for every screw-up so you'd spend more quarters.  If I die 2 seconds into a level I don't want to have to reset the game to get another fair try at the stage.  This makes dieing before a checkpoint incredibly frustrating because you essentially accomplished nothing and have less of a chance of actually beating the stage without resetting.  It's made just that much more annoying because the first stage of Wily's castle is impossible to beat if you get partway, use all you energy for a certain gun, then die and have to restart.

Oh man, wait until you get to the third castle level.  A certain classic yellow goo-like boss makes a re-appearance in a new and significantly more annoying form.  I haven't put the time in yet to defeat it.

And I really agree with you about leaving a level; that is still something common to many MM games though, I think Zero series included.  I can accept it as long as there are some easy to avoid spikes near the beginning of the level, especially because MM9 doesn't seem to punish you for game overs (no E-tank deductions or anything).

I loved Mega man 9, all the way through. I have no complaints. It made me relive my childhood all over again.

I remember when I played mega man for the first time. I was 4 years old, it was 1989, and I rented the first mega man from the video store. It blew my mind. Not as much as Castlevania, but enough to bring a tear in my eye when I remember hearing the music for the first time. Then I made my parents buy me the Second Mega Man, which changed my life.

I'm loving it so far. Only just beat the Gravity dude, but TIGJam got in the way.

Now I'll be able to play a bit more!  Beer!
