NAKED FARMER
You play as a naked and confused farmer with a gun.

Kill baddies.

Build a bad ass farm.

Today, I added two new seeds: purple and red.

Purple seeds can only be dropped by the deadly Poachers, and not very often. The Purple seed can only fully mature into the third (and harvestable) stage when it rains. These delicate conditions can pay off, though--each seed fully grown is worth 150 points!

Red seeds have two main uses. They can be dropped by any enemy. They grow fast and only have two growing stages. It's not worth much fully matured, only 5 points. Once the Red seed matures, it has a chance to replicate itself among any of your available Plots up to two times! The idea behind this seed was to help get the player out of the early financial ditch, will a common, fast-growing, and cheap seed. But, later in the game, the Red seed still is valuable--it makes great feed for the Pig! Large fields full of Red seed makes for very fat Pigs, which means a lot of valuable Bacon. In this way, the Red seed is useful throughout the game.

I also added tooltips (the same kind that animals or turrets have right now) to seeds and drops--making it easier to tell what each seed does and how everything works.

Oh, and the solid walls now connect! Much nicer.



Just a little insight into the thought process behind the design!

Today, I added a fun new feature: letters.

You can buy a mailbox for 35 points. Some mornings, a letter pops out!



Mouse over the letters to read them!





Some are tips, some are just for funsies. The mailbox isn't a utility item, it's more just for fun. I plan on adding some more expensive decorative items into the game soon, as well as more expensive utility items as well.

I've also added a new seed, the yellow (melon) seed. These seeds, when fully matured, sell for 50 points, and grow at a moderate pace. However, if it should rain, they die. Kind of the opposite of the purple (eggplant) seed I added yesterday. Only Poachers can drop melon seeds.

Made some nice progress today.

I added a new enemy, the exploding slime.







These guys will suicide into your walls to blow up anything in their radius. Don't let them get close! It gets frantic when one sneaks passed your vision and opens up a pen full of animals. However, you can also use them to your advantage, blowing them up near crowds of enemies for crowd control.

You can no longer place items on top of each other (except certain cases like putting Torches on Walls) and this has made the construction mode much easier to use. You can also now just click and drag to build Plots or Walls with ease! The whole experience is much more user-friendly as a result.

I've put up the new download (1.9), with all of these features and more, up on the original post.

Today, I added a new animal--the sheep!

Think of the sheep as a renewable pig. They eat plants, gathering more wool as they do. You can then harvest the sheep, leaving it bare. Then it can grow more.


Look how shriveled, hairless, and defenseless he looks.


Gaining wool...

I also have finally added a restart button to the pause menu, and slowed the exploding slimes down a bit. I slowed down the flicker on torches, making everything much more pleasant to view at night. Some other small bug fixes and adjustments to the construction mode will make it onto this upcoming build as well.

Today, I updated the game. Lots of bug fixes, small changes, and optimization fixes.

Some of it includes:

  • fixed wolves being able to destroy plots
  • you can now get rid of dirt holes and other obstructions by walking over them (even while not in construction mode)
  • during the day, any remaining enemy on the field (within a certain distance) will now dissapear.
  • bullet holes stay on the field for much less time
  • improved optimization (especially when raining)
  • easier to delete objects via right click (you can hold and drag it now)
  • stone walls have been removed
  • turret hp increased to 10 (from 6)

The newest version, 1.11, is up on the main post now!
