Grassbox is a WIP experimental game, not much to it now but I hope to add stuff to it to make it a survival exploration game

Looking like it might be interesting, posting to follow. Is the 60FPS because of a weak card, capping it there, or both? If uncapped I imagine this'd run in the high hundreds of frames. Not much to poke fun at yet, I'm clearly grasping at straws. Dont lose momentum or finger biting badgers will find you Coffee

Nice start, yeah. What's the gameplay going to be like (what are you aiming to experiment with)?

@Geti

Well, both in fact. I'm in a laptop with a terrible GPU and it's capped to 60. The current version with "bushes", trees, stones and bigger landscape rolls around 50. I probably will have to utilize some VBOs some time. It's currently using display lists for icosahedrons (every non terrain object, not including water), cuboids (water) and the heightmap. The thing is that even with display lists I do like 500 calls to icosahedrons

Also this is a tiny pet project, I'm working on something else together with this (I hope that this doesn't get more attention that that, not really thinking that it will though)

@Solar

I'm not sure, it'll be an exploration and survival thingy. The essences you see are some form of currency that can be earned by "cashing in" your resources at the obelisk of the map you are in. I don't think I'll do infinite worlds so to get some replayability I'm planning to have obelisks carry an option to generate a new world to explore or gather resources from.

Another use for essences will be upgrading your tools or skills (not sure what to have, a per-tool boost or a global tool type boost)

I guess what I'm really experimenting is a new type of infinite world, a textureless style and 3D (my understanding of 3D concepts and OpenGL)

BTW I'll be really glad if anyone can help me out with this http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=30239.0

Oh hey this looks cool.  I like the colors and whatnot.  Are you gonna have other details spawn in like flowers or gravel patches or whatever else?  Seems like there's a huge opportunity to fill this with life.
