Naughty Goddess







Naughty Goddess is a Action-RPG featuring cute anime girls and fast paced tower defense type play, with a deep Masteries system and Skill system. You play as the protaginist Rika, who was thrown out of heaven by her father, since she was to lazy to keep track of her own landmass. Now mortal, Rika must reawaken her powers by gathering faith from mortals, by doing good deeds. As Rika is gathering faith again, her sister Maria sees this as an opportunity to steal her big sisters landmass for herself!

Sorry guys. I couldn't post what I did last night since I had company over. Anyways you can expect daily posts for the most part for NG.

Anyways here comes yesterdays! Expect another one tonight.

-Gave a reason for leveling up, as you gain levels your stats increase.
-Started equipment system (different weapons and armors you can equip)
-Damage counters show when you do damage or your crystal takes damage.
-Monsters have stats now
-Paused writing the story in depth for coding more of the core game-play.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm aiming for when it comes to character design. I will have someone that is actually good at drawing help me with designing characters to make them look more cute and fun to look at. I'm pretty meh at drawing, so its something I'm going to have to find people better than me, which shouldn't be to hard. :D

Anyways onto what I did today.


Its kind of hard to see when not in motion, but I've added equipment slots. The top one is which weapon you're holding, and that effects the attacks you do, second one is armor, and the last one is a spell, in this case I'm using knock up, which sends all the monsters flying. The little number next to the third box is the cooldown, so you can't spam the spell. It doesn't cost mana or anything though, just cooldowns.

Also the more you use a weapon/spell, the better the weapon/spell gets.

There's many issues that could be solved by having a general understanding of how the female form works.

Now, it's not a rule, but females usually have wider hips. And the shapes of their thighs taper off into their knees, with the widest circumference at the hips. If you'll notice yours, it starts off relatively thin right where the skirt ends, and then gets wider till the knee. Her right shin could also use some bones underneath that flesh; banana legs do not an attractive figure make!



Note the sense of balance and structure within this sketch. A sense of proper perspective.

Of course, you could be wondering: "But John! I just want to draw animu... can't you just let me off the hook? Do I really have to study anatomy?" And the answer is yes. Even moeshit like K-On utilizes these general principals to achieve their "cute" aesthetic.




These aren't particularly great references, but it's hard to find full body shots of kyoani characters that aren't also candidates for hardcore pornography. At any rate, you'll see that the legs follow the same basic proportions as the first sketch. As do the arms and forearms (though kyoani likes to do this thing where they make everyones hands super petite). Elbows start at the horizontal line set around the middle of the torso, right above the belly button (not at the underside of the breast, like in your image). The hips are also wider, and the characters generally have a bit more flesh to them.

Regarding the face in your image- the eyes and mouth are simply decals pasted onto the face. No depth to them. Even in the K-On images, the angle at which the eyes are drawn are affected by perspective.



Now, I certainly don't expect you to turn into a drawing virtuoso, but these are a few things to keep in mind when designing characters in the future, and hopefully help you to achieve the aesthetic you so desire.

Thanks! I'll make sure to have fun. Smiley Yes my characters won't look as professional as Neptunia's girls or KyoAni girls, but I'll do my best to make them attractive and fun.

ANYWAYS, what I did today:
-Improved the spell system, I had a cooldown glitch that I corrected.
-Some character designs

Today was a slow day.

-Improved the gear system by crazy
-Organized a ton of code to make adding weapons and spells and armors easier

-rewrote the AI system again, this time its flawless and I couldn't be happier
-fixed a few bugs causing the game to not spawn enemies

There is some tower defense game in comiket (I forget which comiket though), It's Touhou themed.

I think this will get a bit more interest when the character's artwork is up ... . but I think that you will get better result if you post it in anime forums instead of TiG ... I can be wrong though since I'm pretty new here.

Well I'll post more when I'm in the marketing stage. Right now I have nothing to show really.. xD

Todays devlog:
New toolbar with 8 skill slots, which will be shot using 8 number keys or whatever you bind it to. Also you can enchant your weapons with elements (If you see the small square under the sword) I haven't coded that yet, its just planned.

You might also get more people who are appropriately skilled artists in that style to want to work with you.
