Me and Dennis made Hotline Miami in Game Maker 7 and apparently there are compatibility issues with GM7 on Windows 8 and we had to disable the Steam overlay because it wouldn't work properly either. Porting to GM Studio would most likely solve these problems, but it would take a while to do it and me and Dennis would much rather spend time working on a new project instead.

So we decided to see if we could find someone to help us with the port. If anyone is interested we can discuss payment through PM

Hope one of you tigers can help us out!

I'm also interested, and have sent you a personal message. Hotline Miami is a fantastic game that I'd be honoured to work with!

Hey cactus, i sent you a PM. I'm pretty proficient with GM:S, and i've got a long history of porting many of my projects to newer versions of GM.

Would you be interested in porting it to XNA via C#? I sent you a PM as well.

@Trevor, that would basically mean completely rewriting the game from scratch. GML and C# are two completely different languages, not to mention the way that GM handles resources makes that even that much more difficult.

@Indecom: Yes, I know, but it might be worth it if he wanted to also go to xbox 360 in the future or wanted a completely clean version of the game on PC, probably with more features.
I would not mind going the distance to get experience like this and to work with Cactus.
It wouldn't take THAT long since XNA is already pretty excellent in and of itself.

If you don't check the "Save a copy in my outbox" at the bottom of the PM, it won't save a copy to your outbox.

I realize this thread is old, but I think I can offer you advice. From what I've read, the incompatibility is caused by the way GM plays sounds, so if you use a sound DLL like Supersound, it should fix the problem. That should be a much easier fix than porting to studio.
