The question should really be: Why not put this on the frontpage? Everyone should be given the opportunity to experience this magical journey!
(Also, I'd like to see some links to the actual game itself, if they exist)
Again, seconded.

If this Dream Build Play entry beats mine, I actually wouldn't mind.

Really...did this have to leave the forums and be posted on TIGSource itself?
Sorry, architekt is right. With all of the great independently developed games out there that TIG Source has yet to even put in the database, much less display on the front page, I think it's kind of unfortunate that this is what ends up getting posted.

It's not really that unfortunate. I'm pretty focused on TIGJam right now, so... it was either the unicorn post or nothing. As I've said before, posts do not take the "place" of other posts. 100 million posts about cactus does not mean that 100 million other deserving indie games got axed for them. If I didn't post what I posted, there would be no post at all! That's just like physics and stuff.

It's one of the 300 Dream Build Play entries ( http://www.dreambuildplay.com/main/gallery.aspx ), you won't find a link to the game unless they did a Windows build as well and posted it on their own site. It will probably be a Community Games title like most of the rest. edit: There are some other titles as crazy as MUA that were submitted, and every single one of those entries has an accompanying video.

If I didn't post what I posted, there would be no post at all! Fair enough. I still think this game looks stupid though.

No! Dolphins shall forever be the most mystical animal! Also, this game is gimmicky. And if there's one thing we love here at TIGS, it's gimmickry.

You know, the magical floating unicorn suddenly becomes a zillion times less arbitrary and weird if you make it... a pegacorn. Pegasus wings, unicorn horn. Games about magical unicorn adventures live and die by the quality of their fictional justification for gameplay mechanics.
Pegacorns, guys. PEGACORNS.
Also I dare someone to make a copyright-infringing glitch remix of this called Magical Unicron Adventure.

Nooo, don't add wings! If you do that, the game isn't as funny! Leave it be!

Wow. Quite the response, thanks for the comments. I was the programmer/designer on the project. To answer a few questions..
On the Unicorn rainbows: Yeah that was the original plan, but it ended up cut since we ran out of time towards the end of the contest on account of having to fix some dire last minute issues with the 360 version. Similarly for the animations, we way underestimated the amount and the transitions required to get them right in time along with a bevy of issues with the physics engine in general. The whole thing was made in the last month of the contest.
To clarify the Unicorn mechanic since a few people were confused: You can spawn it in a direction at any time in certain areas as well as change its speed, but not its direction without respawning it. We did manage to smooth out the spawning of it at the last minute with a poof effect. If you check out the
you can see a few more of the mechanics related to it.
As for the release, yeah it's pretty much going to be restricted to Microsoft's creator club shenanigans for the time being depending on how the contest goes. Given the awkwardness of keyboard controls in the game and the nightmare we had getting testers to have XNA to run on their computers without installing the entire SDK, I wouldn't count on much else anytime soon.
