Alright ... this next one is one of my favorite abandoned hobby projects ever:  Actually part of the reason I like it so much might be because the 'game' parts of it were never added. The game's webpage is down but it still has a project page with a download on one place on the internet ... (The excessive detail in this post is to compensate for the obscurity, and to save people the time of browsing through all of mobygames, since it's not there) |

Polish? Nope ... I think the author might have been German but the website where it's currently available is in English, and I think all the code and documentation that comes with the game itself is in English.
edit: Apparently he was from Hamburg, Germany.
edit2: Actually there is some German buried in the comments of the code. Not much, though.

Yep, the author listed Starglider II and Mercenary II (I think this is the same as Damocles) as influences. It's not quite a remake, perhaps because it was left unfinished -- there are no goals, all there is to do is fly around.
