YEAR 2013 / MONTH 1 / DAY 2
Hello there Ladies and Gentleman of the interwebs,
Here we go. My next attempt at creating a full game. Many prototypes have died, great frustration has been had, but as you may be aware we have a new year. And what does that change you may ask? Well, not very much but I set myself a goal this year: To finally complete was has been started so often.
I have been programming for some years now and often played around with the idea of creating a game, as this seems to be the most fun way to continue learning. So far I have built some basic platformers (thanks, chrome for trying to correct this into "transformers"), puzzle games and silly little programs to keep me entertained.
But this has got to change. So here we go: My challenge for 2013: Create a game that someone actually wants to play and which consists of more that one or two repetitive mechanics.
THE PLAN:
- a strategy game set in the future (~150 years from now)
- basic 2d topdown perspective (trying to bribe a friend into doing the art)
- open world to explore
- randomly generated missions, levels
- customisable characters, guns, equipment
- permadeath (you loose a teammate, he is gone. loot him and move on)
- turn previews (no random bullsh*t killing your commander I´m looking at you XCOM...)
WHAT WORKS SO FAR:
- units can be generated + equipped (with testing weapons)
- battles on an open terrain
- room generation (BETA)
let me show you:
...more will follow.
