Gentlemen, please. This is a family thread. There'll be no more dongs here.

That one was an accident.

Meanwhile:

Awesome project, I hope you'll find the time to move it forward!  Gentleman

Thanks very much! Yes, time is my biggest problem. I have a hectic full-time job and I'm already doing the writing for three other games so this is a personal project I have to fit in wherever I can. I'll get there in the end though because I love working on it.

i demand dink physics

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing, right? I'll see what I can do...  Wink

Is that a guy with a grappling hook attached to that sphere in the second picture?  Smiley
Really like the mood of those shots.

Thanks both!

The orb in the second picture is meant to be cracked and leaking a mysterious viscous substance...

This one might look a little clearer:

Ah, I get it! Maybe the hue difference between the green and the cyan(?) made it look like the yellow part was hanging on to the sphere. Also, the crack color seems to have too much contrast, IMHO.

But I guess in-game, it all would be made clear by the leaking/dripping animation!

Very useful advice - thank you. I've reduced the contrast and made the crack itself a little larger and I think this version is much better:

It's still a mock-up at the moment but it will be added to the level along with a nice animation in the next couple of days, so hopefully it will be even more apparent what's going on in the final version.

"...the chitinous outer shell itself is then sometimes used to fashion a kind of ceremonial armor. The bearers of this armor, generally chosen for their martial or sexual prowess, are accorded much status within the tribe..." [Excerpt from FBI Case File 443581]

You don't need to be a qualified semanticist to see how apt it is that the finest martial artists actually come from Mars. Martian arts?

Thanks! I had to change the Martian's skin colour slightly because otherwise it sort of bled into the colour of his armour. In fact, I think my whole colour scheme needs overhauling with a firm brush - I don't really have any idea what I'm doing in this regard so I've been delaying it...

"...their physical superiority may have served an evolutionary function by allowing them to pick their own mates from amongst the more numerous males. Whatever the case, the maidens of Mars are generally to be found in the front rank of any armed gathering." [Excerpt from FBI Case File 443581]

This is probably my last post here for a while. I'm just not going to have the time to work on it in the near future but I hope to be back some time around mid-summer.

That's a shame, I've really enjoyed the impressions of this thread so far, and your talent for pixel animation is outstanding!

I hope you won't lose interest in this project by taking such a long break! Will be looking forward to your coming back.

Thanks so much! I can't tell you how greatly I appreciate that. I will certainly get back to this in time - I really enjoy doing it so can't see that I'll ever drop it entirely (except when it's finished, of course!).

I know I said I'd be taking a break but I had a couple of spare hours this evening so I started on a biker gang from my to-do list:

At the moment their only function is to ride off with the player's trousers:

I may find another use for them later.

Anyway, this is just a little blip in my non-activity. As you were.

 Grin Here ends the blip:

Looks nicer when it's animated but I'm still fiddling with some parallax scrolling.
