Hey TIGers!

I've been talkin' it up with some indies that live in the greater Los Angeles area, and I've amassed quite a few who are up for a jam of sorts. Since the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View (location of the last big TIGjam) doesn't reopen until the beginning of next year, this first one will probably be held at a local cafe or coffee shop, just so I can get an idea of how many people will regularly show up for something like this.

Please let me know if you're interested, and we can sort out a date for this thing!

UPDATE:

~SoCal Jam #2~

When is it?: Saturday, May 11th.
What time?: As early as you guys feel like startin'!
Where is it?: My place, in Burbank. PM so I know you're coming and I'll respond with the address.

Huh? Not sure where you got this info, but the Hacker Dojo is only closed for about 2 weeks this month for the location transition.

Oh, really? I was just going off the information on their website. Must've misread! :V

In that case, we can totally hold it there given enough people are interested.

Here's the moving schedule, happening over the course of this and next month.

If they mentioned "next year" then it was probably written in 2012.  Smiley

So since this is obv going to be kind of small, is everyone cool with jamming out in a cafe? Also, what dates work best for people?

EDIT: JUST NOW REALIZED that Mountain View is next to San Fran. Droop That's what you get for being a non-native Californian I guess.

Yeah, obv. My directional skills were totally off haha. There's a really great cafe in North Hollywood, I was going to stop in tomorrow and see if they'd be cool with a crowd.

I'm under the impression that there are a few more indies living in SoCal than just us. Let's keep the invitation open in case more people want to join up.

Good idea.

We're talking to you. Yeah, you. The one that saw this thread and said "Oh shit, I live in SoCal." And then you clicked on this thread and thought eh. But I implore, move down a little bit to the 'reply' button. It's easy. Do it.

I'm planning to move to northern California in July, where I will be staying (because it will be free) until I have a job in Los Angeles, after which I will be moving to Los Angeles. So, ideally, I will be in LA some time this summer -- I will definitely be interested in meeting up if this turns into regularly occurring events!

Well, I'm in Bakersfield, and currently living on the road out of my car. If I could find a place around No/WeHo where I could actually park and camp out without getting ticketed or cash-drained (like a Wal-Mart/Denny's parking lot, or a 24h grocery store), I'd be highly tempted to take you guys up on this!

Been meaning to sniff around the area anyhow. I lived about half a year in Long/Huntington Beach (on PCH/Ximeno), so I'm not a complete stranger to the LA area.

Haha, well; I'm not exactly moving there for the smiles and good times. But I am optimistic about making those happen anyway.
