-read
-write
-draw
-design games on paper
-craft stuff from other stuff
-make friends with management/governors/uniforms/psychiatrist in hope of getting a computer back (perhaps without wireless card) because you need it to let out your passion and creativity and as a way of contributing to society when you get out  Beg Well, hello there!

I once was in prison too (for almost a year) and sometimes (just very occasionaly) I wish I could go back with my laptop and just concentrate on working in there and be fed and everything.
It wasn't a place though where you had access to computers (especialy not to yourself)
you only had librarybooks, candy and pencil and paper...

well keep it up

Ok. I'll stop. Sorry if it was offensive. Strike that. It was meant to be offensive. Sorry if it was very offensive.

I remember an interview on the radio about a kinda notorious hacker. The guy managed to get a job with a company, he'd go to work 9-5 (unlike 'real' programmers) and get thrown back in jail at 5 PM sharp.

What he did was write code during the day, print it out, then debug in prison. He said that it actually worked a lot better than debugging from the computer, even got the code working the first time after writing on paper!

So, I'd suggest you write your code on paper, then type it up and compile when you get computer access. Plus in prison you don't get distracted by youtube and porn, so you could be more productive.

Board games are good practice too.

What are you in for?

One of the first rules of prison (I spent some time there) is that you NEVER ask this question.  But if people don't volunteer the information, you assume they're a pedophile.

All I'll say is:  violent crime.

I figured as much, it's like asking a vet if he's ever killed anyone. But in this case my curiosity got the best of me, I apologize.

At first I thought you meant veterinarian.

I almost got sentenced to 30 years in prison when I was 18 for setting fire to a locker at school. They wanted to charge me with two felonies of arson and risking a catastrophe (because they claimed the lockers were near a gas line). Fortunately the judge realized it for what it was, criminal mischief, and the big charges got dropped.

Thanks for answering my question, sorry if I came off as rude by asking I was just curious.

If i were in that situation longterm, i'd be playing a lot of Dungeons and Dragons or other tabletop RPGs.  There's a shitton of free ones online, and designing your own is fun too
