Loving the animations and style for this game. Did notice the guy does seem to move left a frame just as his mouth is about to open.

Title Screen WIP

Working on the title screen, trying to draw inspiration from Victorian era poster/newspaper design. I like the playful use of typography. The 'New' and 'Continue' buttons are placeholder.

I'm worried the social stuff is too big. Thoughts?

The title screen is good, but I agree that the icons are a little big. Maybe just have a little arrow you can flick to another page with that has credits, a link to the homepage, and social media stuff? Or make drunkdevs.com take up more space and simply stack the three icons on top of each other to the right.

They are big, but the low contrast makes things look subtle and classy. Personally I'd say it's fine because everything is big and chunky, on the screen and in the game.
Also you're an starry-eyed garage group of indie developers, you have any right to put your name in there big. Smiley

If you're really worried about it, just make a few of your sprites run back and forth in front of the logo, like an old-school coin-op demo. It adds life and instantly changes that space from a boring logo to a fun, charming extra.

That's an excellent suggestion.

@Ashkin
I like the suggestion of sliding over to a new screen, but I want to keep it a single screen so the programmer doesn't kill me. I've also played with the idea of having them 'peeking' up from the bottom of the screen, and sliding up on mouse over. I'll keep mulling it over. The previous splash screen is for the website, maybe this info is redundant?

@Miguelito
The reference material leaves very little negative space, and it's chunky and low contrast so it isn't too terrible(that is how I'm rationalizing it). If I'm totally off my rocker, please correct me. I think having the sprites chase each other is a great idea! Keep the suggestions coming, I'm taking notes. Wink

Gavin and I have been crunching on this for most of the weekend, and have made great progress. The art assets should be finalized, and I believe the writing is done also. We are really hoping to get this into your hot little hands very soon.

I've done my best to work in as much feedback as I can, and I really appreciate all the suggestions given.

Here is the launch trailer for the game. It's mostly footage of us getting drunk and brainstorming the game. I hope you have as much fun watching the video as we did making it.

Really fun game as far as I got, quite challenging to a non-gamer such as myself.

A big thing:
I get a pop up box for an "internal error" every time I press the space bar after I get the rock,

A little thing:
Typo after you get the rock, "supposed" rather than "suppose."

Super happy everyone has been enjoying the game. Btw, 1 free internet to who ever can find the "A Man's Quest" Easter egg, and post a screen shot of it.

Great game guys, charming and quirky with some interesting level layouts. The game controlled smooth and had a pace of keeping things interesting. I loved that boss fight!
Keep up the good work fellas, job well done.

Nice looking game!

I wanted to try it but I have a mac, and on my parallels VM the game runs on a small resolution:

If there's something I could try to change the resolution tell me, if not I'll play it on a windows machine as soon as I can.

Great job!
