that's not what i said. i just said it's bs that you have to be online to go into offline mode.

well I've never had it work otherwise, I've ended up stuck with it refusing to go into offline mode for a week+ away from net about three different times.

I followed the directions on how to set up Steam Offline Mode to the letter and it still keeps trying to connect to the internet when I click the button that says play offline. So, yeah...

idk what you guys are doing but i just went into offline mode from the client 3 times in a row then i disconnected my internet and tried it again and it still worked.  

i read deleting clientregistry.blob supposedly helps if ur having trouble

yeah, for the longest time it wouldn't work but it has worked perfectly for at least the past year.

Actually it was doing this on my last computer, but on my current one it don't.
Maybe you didn't update the Steam client?

steam updates automatically so no.

true facts, if you leave it in offline mode for a long enough amount of time, it will just stop starting and ask you to update steam anyways. i've had to deal with this around 4 times.
