So I think this is going to be my rougelike-esque game for #1GAM this month.
You play as a mushroom girl named PortoBella (get it?) who needs to escape (in a rush, get it, rushroom?)from her underground home for some reason I will figure out later.


She's also got a gun, for some reason

You can jump, double jump triple jump etc jump, and upgrade your jumps with jumpshrooms


Using your gun, which is also upgradeable you can shoot people, and travel really fast


Now, when you use the gun and the jump, you can get moving pretty fast...


Finally you can stomp the ground to do a little damage, and chain it with some jumps/shooting to be extra fancy


There are also lots of mushroom buddies to hang out with on the way...


as of now there are a few things I need to implement, such as the random level/powerup generation. And of course adding some sort of enemy and timer

That is probably one of the stranger things to question in a game considering how common it is.

Things everyone always does without thinking are the most important things to question! Plus, it wasn't a critique - it just stood out because of the combination of shoot-to-accelerate and triple-jumping, but no shooting down.

When I first made it the key to jump up was up, maybe I should return to having up be jump, and switch slam to x?

OR- double tap current facing dir to shoot, down to slam and up to jump?

Well, that is true. I like the amount of knockback, but if the bullets go too fast you cant really see them. I think this is kind of funny actually, so that's why I left it. I can't really see a reason to change it. When i add enemies, the bullets will stun them (she will be shooting spores at them) and you will attack by slamming

News - got level loading working, now I just have to make a bunch of connecting "rooms" for level generation
Right now im fixing a collision bug while slamming into the ground
