She shares the same jump animation as X from Megaman X. Nearly frame for frame. I do feel I could patch things up a bit better, but it's rather minor.

Can anyone reliably record a gif at 60 FPS without dropping frames and looking like they're being played at double speed? The jump isn't particularly based on other games, just on what feels good, though reviews have said it's somewhere between Monster Dash and Canabalt. I tried a couple different jumping models and went with the one that playtested best.

Hey ya bring a valid point. I haven't touched the camera in a while so it may be time I changed it again.

I can! I use licecap, record at 45 FPS, then upload to gfycat. Technically the GIF itself is in 60 FPS, although it's just interpolated. I've found this is the best quality kind of GIFs you an get without having to buy some fancy software.

That's a pretty nice article. Might help me adjust the camera appropriately. It should be noted that the gif is only a fraction of the screen(the character is less than 128 pixels tall) and is being recorded at 33fps.
@SeanNoonan: The game looks nice, but I kinda feel like the character should look like their moving faster. Perhaps have them lean forward a bit more when executing the jump since it currently looks like they are mainly jumping up and not jumping up and forward(which is what's happening in the game). Then again it's happening so fast I can't tell very easily.

(There's a tile error on the bottom lefthand side, but I've fixed it since this was recorded)

That looks great! Your devlog states that the colors are for testing purposes, but I actually really like them.
