I love that it isn't the often-seen round ripple effect. Also the tint is nice!

That shader effect looks terrific! The explosions seems a bit off, I think it's odd that the edges of the flame fade to black before disappearing.

I was trying to make them look smokey like fuel explosions, but you're right. Probably too opaque when it goes dark. Letting the smoke hang around longer so it actually looks like smoke would probably help too.

I think scaling the entire explosion down looks weird.  Almost like it's teleporting lol

So like many of the weebs that have recently gotten a copy of RPG Maker MV, I started to test things out. Granted what I have is a steaming turd pile at this point, I'm hoping it's a step in the right direction towards making and using my own game assets. One step at a time I guess.

Yeah, I wanted to show that in the gif, but there's so much tire smoke that they are off the screen before the smoke clears enough to see them properly. Huh?

I like the style very much! But the dithering in the shadow makes surrounding objects really noisy, maybe a single transition gradient could make things clearer?
