I guess somewhat related but are there any people on here who're programming / are interested in programmer 'classic' 8-bit machines? If so, are you using assembler or are you using C? (SDCC comes to mind. Not the greatest at code generation, but hey..  )

If you count TI calculators (TI 83 plus mostly) as 'classic' then yes. I use mostly assembler, but z88dk has proved very useful for playing. I also make frequent use of various interpreted languages like Forth and Basic for making things quickly.

Working on a few C64 projects (and also released some). Use only assembler, there is a C compiler out there CC65 though.

Programmed some z80 for both Game Gear and MasterSystem Smiley

Also poked at the z80/ 8080 variant the GameBoy uses, haven't really done any completed projects in said languages though.

But that's more because of my lack of drive than anything else :B

I worked with Atmel AVR (8-bit) the previous year at university but haven't touched any assembler since.
