You know what I like?

Equalization.

I also enjoy not taking the time to stop my vocals from clipping all the time.

I am thoroughly obsessed with the Sega Genesis/Megadrive's Yamaha YM2612 sound chip. Its bass and distortion synthesis is outstanding. The sound it is able to produce has an undeniably powerful and unnerving black magic to it and the variation in its ability to literally and metaphorically shake your very core never ceases to amaze me. I consider it to be my favorite synthesizer of all time.

Here's a track I wrote using the sound chip a few years ago: http://www.cyborgwar.com/sample.mp3

Really wish this wasn't clipping all over and mixed etc as I really dig the direction you're going.

Made a demo from my newly acquired JEN SX-1000
http://soundcloud.com/fafhrd/jen-sx-1000-demo-track

It's very retro sounding.... I kind of want to add like it sounds like it belongs in a video game or it sounds kind of poppy, but I'll let you guys be the judge of that.

Made a loop for my game POP a couple days ago.

Edit:

Also started work on an ambient album: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8367315/music/rob%20lach%20-%20thirdempire.mp3 (real WIP stuff still)

Part of my FAWM entry.

I'm way behind so I'm not spending much time with mixing or trying not to clip. These are like demos of demos.

This is nice! Nice harmonics in the second chorus (?), few instruments but it's sounds complete nonetheless.

I signed up for soundcloud just today. here's a loop.

That sounds like I'm in some nasty space cave. This is a compliment, since that is obviously what you were trying to achieve.

1-5 second bursts of mini-tunes. For imaginary level complete screens/item get/fanfare/gameover etc. Smiley
It was a lot of fun.

(I deleted my single posting and repost this here, where it belongs)

I have finished my first just-for-fun composition since a very long time ago. It is a game-soundtrack like piece I named “Airship”. I can imagine this in a Japanese 90’s RPG from the SNES or Sega Genesis/MegaDrive era.

@slinwyeg: This is amazing! This could just as well have been a track from one of the great SNES RPG games Shocked

(If you plan on posting more soundtracks you could just as well have kept the separate thread. I trust that you are gonna make more tracks in this style Wink )
