I need to play this game now. Really enjoying those battle themes - zany, creative, total Earthbound vibe. The other themes are great too - some nice variety in there.

Do you have a Soundcloud? If not, you should totally make one so I can follow you. :p

Posting a friends stuff - he did some great audio for two recent games I made and has them available for sale:

http://electric-cafe.bandcamp.com/album/aqua-kitty-soundtrack
and
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/aqua-kitty-soundtrack/id592788388

When creating the music, we initially looked back at Turrican/R-type and c64 Hubbard music tracks - and then we developed AquaKitty music outwards from that.

edit: oops forgot to mention this is his website - http://www.electriccafeonline.com/

This was originally meant for the currently-happening musical challenge, but then I felt it sounded too much like a film score over the criteria involved. Tongue

thank you very much, Calum, Drakken, earthbound is most def an influence on this supposed game. i'll probably release an album eventually of all the music for the game, but i'd want to include artwork and the entire script as well. see the game is based off this animation I did:

*its crappy, beware*

except the game builds on a lot of story material I would plan on releasing as either comics or more short animations and the other way around. For example, the animatinos wouldn't explain how Xzvnbmnb and his family blend in so well with all of dog-kind. He's a grey alien, and no one ever comments on that. Character establishment would go into comic/animations, and the game would be what expands the Boneprides world into the Boneprides universe. Also, little details from non-game content, stuff you would only know from watching or reading the Boneprides, would factor into the game. Perhaps Ardy is ordering a drink at a bar. If you pick a Sunday Slammer(Ardy's favorite drink) Ardy will monologue: "Hey, that's my favorite drink. A pint of mead topped with a scoop of vanilla icecream, sliced banana, peanuts, and drizzled with chocolate syrup) and gains +5 on all stats afterwards.

I'm not even sure if this will ever be a game(i'm not really working on it that much at all), but gameplay would be pretty simple. Walk around like in earthbound, talk to people, fight, etc... but I want to have some complex features. There would be an optional little feature of the game where Ardy is able to update his Bark-Acha account(the dog-world equivalent of facebook) which would link up to your own facebook. Each time you level up, it would post a status update noting you ingame stats such as steps in game taken, battles won, npcs talked to, your alignment... if you talk to someone, or something strange happens, Ardy updates his status with his thoughts.

Battles would be like Earthbound, except each battle would be situational. If you are engaged in a "battle" with a pile of dust, the attack command won't say "attack," instead it will say "clean up." If you're "fighting" a plate of spaghetti, commands will be "fork", "knife", "napkin" and "blow." for example:

"Ardy puts his fork through meatball C... but it was too hot to handle! Ardy took 10 damage."

"Ardy pats the napkin on his muzzle. Ardy recovered 5 Hp."

"Ardy blows gentley on meatball A. Meatball A's defense is down!"

of course it will mostly be traditional type battles too!

here's how it would looks:

except less shitty and mock up-y.'

i hope that explains this a bit more... and no I don't have a soundcloud Sad I have bandcamp, but i never update it......... infact I still have an entire album I never released on there. :S

oh and I made this yesterday::

that sounds pretty great. So much of what I enjoyed about earthbound wasn't from it's gameplay or graphics but just that the writing was so charming and that the world was such a pleasant place to get lost in and explore.

I was pretty amazed by that animation! Good job dood! keep us posted on this.

I collabed with a guy on a track for a release (http://9bitrecords.bandcamp.com/album/9-bit-blizzard)
we have quite different tastes in our arrangements so we ended up making 2 versions of our collaboration! He's a minimalist, I'm a maximilast!

This is my first post on the forums, but I've been following the site for some time.
I write a lot of chiptunes on my own time using Pxtone Collage, but I haven't really released anything much yet. I thought I'd just put something out there to get an idea of its quality. So, here:

Song is awesome, Calum!

EDIT: I really like the min version's piano sound throughout, but probably prefer the max version's more chill feel overall.

Thanks man. I'm pretty sure the piano was one of the ones that comes with logic pro with sum nice EQ and a bunch of reverb on it. Not really anything new but I jus' made a video for that song:

Damn Calum, you're definitely one of my favorite composers and I'm not just talking TIGForums here. You have a musical sensibility that resonates with me a lot! Lovely stuff, always!

I'm eagerly waiting for a full album from you - it will be purchased the instant it's released!

Here is a breezy, jazzy thing I was working on earlier for my new album. It's still not finished but since I haven't posted anything in a long time, this is a good chance to do so:

https://www.box.com/s/400ze7qird18sasjq0sn

(unfortunately Soundcloud says that the song "is being processed" so I can't link to it from there. Sorry!)

At last, SC link available

This is something I made for a theoretical game I've been working up. It all started when my friend miswrote "bubble wrap" as "Bubble Warp", which instantly filled my head with Bubble Bobble/Portal Crossover ideas. After fleshing it out a bit, I came up with a basic framework.
It would have the two guys from Bubble Bobble, and they can each spit out one bubble at a time. If they spit out a new one, the old one disappears. The catch is that anything that touches one bubble is "warped" to the other. Enemies roam in predictable patterns around a one-screen stage. The idea is for one player to shoot a bubble over a spike-pit or some hazard, and the other player to shoot a bubble in front of an enemy, so the enemy is warped and falls into the pit. There would probably be a time limit and maybe 100 stages or something.

So anyway, here's what I came up for music.
Theme - http://www.mediafire.com/?87ty4v7ygwta1dr
Hurry Up! - http://www.mediafire.com/?k3kge9uxf3ohltd
Stage Clear - http://www.mediafire.com/?18xv3s5wysaves0
Game Over - http://www.mediafire.com/?sv0fepj2dy19ziw

Also, I really liked Woken by a Wizard. There was some really nice pitch-bend stuff in there. Keep up the good work!

EDIT: BTW, the theme and "Hurry Up!" theme are meant to loop, so the ending seems kind of abrupt in this recording.

calum bowen, thank you :DD that's what i liked about EB too was the story and feel... it felt so good to play.

i really liked the maxmix edition, it sounded very prof, loved the drums at 50+, so boopy and boppy :3 and i love it got all heavy around 1:15, very beautiful. it's very happy. i love the minmix also, it's very soothing. both are great mixes... however, I kind of wish the vocaloid was replaced with an instrument, but that's not a criticism, it's just a matter of personal preference.
