I really dig the look and sound of this game. Gameplay needs some work, but I'm excited to see what comes of this.

New here, look for mixing advice. Can anyone offer tips on bass reduction? I try to simply lessen the low end on an equalizer, but that usually ruins the sound, making it sound like something off of an old record player. Most recent: https://soundcloud.com/ajprisco/aj-prisco-the-ancients

Also reference your mixes, and when you're adjusting your HPF don't solo the track. Another option is to use a multiband compressor like Waves C4 to compress only that area of the spectrum. I don't hear any problems with the low end here though, it sounds really good.

I guess I've gotten pretty good at hiding my non-existent mixing skill then haha ! In that track specifically, from about 0:53 to 1:22 it seems to be clipping a little. Maybe it's just my shitty old monitors . You're right, I do find myself working with only one track at a time when mixing. Anyway, cheers man ! I'll check out C4 when I have some spare cash.

@pgil Those are pretty fun tunes you got there.
@ZackParrish I think the mix you have there works well! It definitely would fit a modern day snes style.
@saibot216 The keyboard sounds really midi, cool drums though.
@MrPrisco That was powerful, really good job!

The bass is sampled from the drum machine, the synth is running the drum machine through a filter as well as triggering some quiet rhythmic synth bits.

Hi all! Guess I'm a bit late to the party, but I just finished this 11 min. long Final Fantasy inspired Final Boss Battle Progrock Song! Figured, I might as well post it here.

@Thomas Finch: Not sure if I said it before, but I love how proud you are of your musician's work!
Neither boastful nor egotistical - I can tell that you are profoundly pleased with his creations, and it does my heart good to see a developer with such a strong connection and level of contentment with work from his development team!
Another great track from him! Has that uneasy, eerie aura, and I love how open the piece gets at the 00:40 mark.
@BGMusic: The piano lines in your track were sick. In truth, I thought more of the Star Ocean: Till the End of Time soundtrack, up until the 5:12 mark (FF7)! The drum segments were fantastic as well - (I'm a sucker for well-applied ride cymbals).
You did a great job with your transitions, though one time, it felt like you were stringing different ideas together. I can imagine though, since I am sure you came up with a bunch of ideas to use for this piece as you progressed. It was a highly enjoyable track! Not many can pass off an eleven minute track without it becoming monotonous and lacking purpose!

I'm new to this whole site, so hi everyone! I've been wanting to compose music for a while, and was told this is where I should go to. Here's a few things I've got, keep it mind it isn't much, but I plan to be posting a lot more! https://soundcloud.com/john-jeziorski

@M4uesviecr:Thanks! Since I also love the work of Motoi Sakuraba, it honors me to hear you say that. The drums were quite a lot of work, and I actually spent a few extra days only on fine-tuning them and going through all notes, working on velocity, pan, volume, deleting unrealistic notes, etc. You did a great job with your transitions, though one time, it felt like you were stringing different ideas together.
Yeah, that was one of the few problems I had to constantly fight with: With this song the problem wasn't not having enough ideas, it was having too many of them, and I guess sometimes it shows. I think I already know which transition you mean, but can you still mention the exact time mark?
