Glad you enjoyed them. I checked out your channel and you've got a theme which is a WIP. Are you new to composing?

Yeah, I'm very new to it. Only been doing it for about a month.
I'm using MilkyTracker and having fun with it so far Smiley

shellbot, that's great. Once you get it down pat, composing will become second-nature. Best of luck.

Blitzwood, you have a quality sound library, clearly going for that bombastic film-like score. My only two criticisms are that the electric guitar in A New World comes off sounding forced against the orchestration and that the timpani in First Strike is a little off at the 2:00 and 2:07 spots. Otherwise, a solid effort.

FWIW, I've just uploaded part of a soundtrack I was working on using Phantasy Star II as influence. 27 tracks completed.

My most recent thing. Trying to post music semi-regularly. Would appreciate criticism.

viridan, those synth arps sound fitting as incidental music for a documentary about space exploration.

Thank you for your time listening and for your criticisms, you have a really good ear hehe. I'll see what I can do with the guitar in New World, maybe change it or maybe even remove it, I'll see what sound better.

The timpani should be easier to fix.

Your music is great to me and it brings memories from older times playing (not just Phantasy Star 2) but for non-gamers or younger gamers it may sound outdated, don't you think? My favourite is 05 - Small Talk.

Blitzwood, thanks for the honest appraisal. Yes, much of the sounds I'm using are antiquated, intentionally, so as to preserve the feel of the old-school 16-bit era. It forces me to focus more on melody, harmony and arrangement rather than high-quality sounds to obfuscate mundane composition (which I'm definitely not accusing you of doing).

This sounds like it wants to be very 80s. But it almost has this hi-fi feel to it, which I'm not sure is very fitting. Also some of the major chords seem pretty out of place.
I guess it does sound spacey though.

yes yes yes yes yes yes

Speaking of the 80's, I want to share a piece of music I made that's more or less like it, Retro 80's stuff with both real and virtual instruments.

This is beautiful! You are seriously talented man.

These are some cool instrument sounds. Did you make the samples yourself?

Yo, beautiful work on the pop piano tune. Love the light/lushness of the piano. I think it would be cool to see how the snare echoes and "crash" sounds felt when they filled out the corners of the piece, rather than sat in the background. Either way, wonderful piano sound!

Also -- the composition for elemental boss was wonderful! Would LOVE to hear the full version!

Yes I did! But I can't quite say I was too certain what I was doing. I managed to make one kind of interesting yet wonky synth and noticed that it could produce a few odd tones quite nicely, so I tried writing around those richer sounds.

Synthetic flame:
Very nice track! What I would do is to get more bass in the drums. Keep it up!

And here's a track I've made available on Soundcloud:

You can listen to my music at www.soundcloud.com/beakon-1

I would love to collaborate with someone. I just finished soundtracking a play, all of the songs with the honeycomb/coyote image next to them come from that play. My other work tends to be a little more booms 'n' claps, but I am definitely interested in more spacious compositions as well.
