Calum, that's such a great way to learn! Definitely catchy.

Here's a track I did for Chris Pavia's 7DFPS game, TIMESCALE.

Second is on its way...

I'm not an expert in Japanese at all, but I thought "Fu" isn't pronounced like "Fo-od", but rather like "Who" while pursing your lips / blowing (there's no harsh F sound). Also, "Se" isn't pronounced "Suh-dden", but rather like "Sai-d".

Also, Japanese sounds don't change like English sounds do. In English, if you say the word, "Say", you would sound out something like "Se-Ay-ee". In Japanese, if it was "Seh", then I think it would be something like "seehh" - the sounds never modulate, in a way. If it reads a certain way, you pretty much just read it that way and don't add anything to it. For example, rather than "Ko" being "Kaoh", it's just "Ko", for example. Straight from a "K" into an "O", not "Kuh". Kind of hard to type it out. These are just my thoughts - you probably want to check online to be sure.

Anyway, though I'm not a fan of metal-ish music, your method's a pretty cool way to learn Japanese. I bet you'll never forget, and you'll be able to come back later to see how you do something correctly, or how you've improved over time. I was thinking of something like that, but I don't know it nearly enough to actually go through with my idea.

Somewhere in the description is says what a bad teaching aid it is. I was kinda going for style over diction which is a ridiculous thing to do BUT ANYWAY, yeahh. Wherever I deviated was purely through performance or accident. I'm making excuses because i've been studying japanese for ages and began making these for my friend who's in japan at the moment but knows very little japanese at all. i made another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cfbeo7BeiE DAYS OF THE WEEK this time!

I recently made the soundtrack for a game called Qbeh, an atmospheric first person puzzle game. you can listen to (some of) it here: http://soundcloud.com/launchablesocks/sets/qbeh/

you can get the game itself here: http://epileptictrees.com/qbeh/

and you can check a gameplay video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9vsxta9yvU

anyways, let me know what you guys think!

wow, i really like the tracks for qbeh. keep it up. what (roughly) was used for those backwards-sounding things in the menu track? or was it some complex mish-mash of synth settings.

what period was it developed over? was this 7dfps?

thanks very much! i believe the game was developed over a period of 2 months, give or take. i made the soundtrack over a period of more like 1 - 2 weeks.
I hardly used synths. most of the sounds you hear were recorded by me. and finally i don't think it'll do any harm to divulge that the backwards sounding things in the menu are in fact ice cubes ; )

Oh, hey, thanks. I use SunVox, actually. I just go for the PC straight, though it would help if I planned out the song more before I went for it. Tongue

Keep writing music.

Also, in the first minute of the song there was room ambience or line noise in the guitar recordings, but around 1:15-1:20 or so... it appears to ... vanish for a while. I'd suggest narrowing down exactly what was producing the extra static in the recordings and finding a solution to remove it.  Music was wonderful, the mixing was great, just that noise was the only thing that really depressed me.

Thanks, man.

I think the noise was from the mic picking up the fan on my computer when I was recording one of the acoustic guitar parts.  I'll probably just re-record that part.

I've been listening to your piano album, btw.  It's really great.  You play beautifully.
