Only problem is that really hampers some genres, and would require the voters to come back another time and play it again.

That's a problem, but the real problem is for non-programmers and more casual designers. Making a game with that kind of real time advancement ain't easy. You have to make a game that actually uses that, and then you have to make the code that simulates what happenned since the last time it was played.

10-minute compo
games are 10 minutes in duration, max.
Not race against the clock, just use the players time wisely

Every game's name is an acronym for T.I.G. . For example, you can make a game called " Tremendously Intelligent Gorilla" or " Three Imp Gang" and the game obviously has to have some sort of connection with it's name. Or, a compo where you guys have to pick your game's name from this random video game name generator. and then make the game to fit it's name.

Katamari Damacy Remake Remake Katamari Damacy
Miniature game A game where it takes place as if you were shrunk. Let's say about mouse size.

This is why we need the competition SUBFORUMS. So new Tigers don't overlook our proud history. Also, Smileys up the wazoo. Wow.

I think we should have a competition in which we all make mediocre games. Like, some kind of "B-Game" competition.
If we can't do that, perhaps we could start a competition in which we all make games with procedurally generated content? I like that idea too.

Twist Ending Compo! Make a game that ends with a twist. It could have a surprise ending to the story, such as "Lol, all those zombies you slayed were just kids in halloween costumes!" or "turns out you were killed back in level 1 and since then you've been a ghost like Bruce Willis!" Or the twist could be part of the game, but near the end - like in Halloween Harry, where the final boss (who appears during the game as a silhouetted bad guy with glowing eyes) turns out to be...
Zombie Elvis Presley from Outer Space
!!! Or, y'know, you could do some completely irrelevant twist, such as a game of Tetris that ends with the message: "CONGRATULATIONS YOU WON. OH BY THE WAY, YOU WERE ADOPTED". A nice side-effect of this compo is that it encourages us to FINISH making our games...
