I'm going to necromance this thread because I think I can probably code another character before the end of school holidays. The movelist on Post 1 seems pretty fine to me. So if nobody has any objections I'll start coding Trilby shortly.

Works for me. My only complaint about that move list is his >S, Thievery. Iji's cracking will have the same function, and it's a pretty obscure move. I'm pretty sure I suggested that move originally, but there has to be something better to replace it with.

Umbrella Shield could be moved to his >S, but then we'd still need to come up with a vA.

Nah, I think Thievery is a good move. It's conceptually different to Iji's cracking, since cracking disables different things at random, whereas Trilby just nicks all their specials in one sweep. And yes, it may be obscure, but Trilby is not supposed to be a character for beginners. Most of all, I just think it fits his passive-aggressive style so perfectly.

Wait, how about this? Thievery works like a counter. Instead of dealing damage, though, it will block the attack and then 'steal' it, so the opponent can't use that attack again for a certain amount of time. An awesome Trilby could conceivably steal all his opponent's attacks, but it wouldn't be at all likely due to the attacks coming back after a while.

That's a really good idea. It might be too hard to pull off, though.

Would that mean we'd have to sprite Trilby performing all of the other character's attacks? Or can we just use a generic placeholder animation? Seems like imitating Kirby's mimicking ability would be a real pain...

Didn't say Trilby could use them, godsavant - said the opponent couldn't.

Oh, I get it. It'd be more like 'Disable' than 'Thievery'.

OK, I'm starting work on Trilby, and just to be crystal clear on my intentions, I'm going to make Thievery his S-neutral (since it's a counterattack) while Taser becomes his S>.

Coded 5 of his attacks, the latest of which being the theft-counter. Was nowhere near as hard as I expected it to be. Cool

I just realized that Trilby's ^S will be his only damaging special (and its primary purpose is not damage). That's kind of nifty. It fits Trilby's trickster fighting style.

I'd suggest making his vA fairly strong, and a little slower, because his other three attacks seem like they would be somewhat weak.

Heh, actually his Av doesn't do any damage at all right now, but I can change that. Also, I figured that the taser would deal damage as well as stunning them.

I'm worried that would be overpowered, though. Stunlocking with tazers could cause lots of problems.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering it his vA really needs to be defensive at all. Trilby has plenty of defensive moves, but not many powerful attacks.
