In TIGSource they have made a competition of independant games inspired in Lovecrat[sic]: The Commonplace Book Competition. For the moment, my favorite is This Cursed Rock.

Edit: Yes, the guy was getting DX errors. I directed him to the DX9 runtimes I posted earlier.

Yeah...
Has some really good potential, but the ending is lame. Oddly funny, but also really, really lame. Looking forward to the full version!

And you must explain the monoliths within the story!

The monoliths are just save points... you respawn at the last one you touched (you don't have to read them, just touch them).  I didn't think they needed much explanation.  Of course if you don't actually die then I guess it would remain a mystery Tongue.

Sorry to hear you didn't like the ending... a lot of people found it funny Shrug.  I will work on a full version though, with the option to play either the compo ending or the "director's cut."

I prefer short games with an original story and atmosphere than long drawn out metroidvanias  Beer!

I prefer sports sim franchises with realistic sweat so that's what the next version of TCR is going to be.

The ending is the best I've ever seen in a game. Amazing. Beer!

The ending bothers me. Not tat it's a random silly joke. That's just fine. What bothers me is that it doesn't really answer any of the questions, even in a humorous context. We never really find out who on Earth the zombie is, why he wants the stone, or anything. Not even something obviously ridiculous like "He's the captain's poker buddy and he wants to pawn it off to buy some beer."

"He's the captain's poker buddy and he wants to pawn it off to buy some beer."

Sounds good to me.

Sounds good to me.

So that means it's canon?  Giggle

Feeling bad since I was overseas during most of the end of the year, so I haven't had time to play until now, but Awesome - You would've had (one of) my vote(s)!  Beer!

Apparently I got a sidebar review type thing in the UK PC Gamer magazine (issue 197), but this is the best image that has been offered to me (linked for size):

If anyone out there could get me a scan or a clear photo of the article I'd be eternally grateful Smiley Smiley Smiley

Argh, I really should set aside some time and rebuild this in the newest version of Construct so that sort of thing isn't an issue any more.
