Hey guys, I just wanted to make a post and start updates here on our latest game:

Dead Squared

Info:
  • Random rooms
  • Toon Render
  • Old school DOOM shooter action
  • Weapon Crafting
  • Zombies and other creatures
  • Light RPG elements

Playable

The playable is an old alpha build.  Since then we redone how our rooms are generated.  We used to generate room after room, but now we generate an entire floor.  We also added a mini-map to help navigate the floor.  We ended having to overhaul a lot of the systems, but are finally moving onto crafting.  We plan to have traditional weapons and a few more sci-fi type guns.  So far we only have 2 guns working, and some zombie enemy types.  We do plan to support a wide range of weapons and enemies.

Screenshots

These are the latest screenshots from the current build.

We plan to launch on PC, Mac, and looking into Linux.  Then we will release it on mobile devices.  It's looking more likely we will be doing a kickstarter soon.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Looks quite nice. What do the numbers on the rooms in the minimap signify? Or is that just a debug kind of thing?

Yea that is exactly what it is right now.  The rooms are pre-made, but the way it's arranged is random.  Later on we do plan to add icons to indicate certain things on the map but for now it's just a way for us to debug the rooms.

We just got basic crafting working.  I spent today breaking our current weapons down into components used for crafting.  There are also 4 basic materials used in crafting along with weapon components.  What's not shown yet is mod components.  These components will come from monsters you kill.  Once mods are created you can craft them into a weapon.

Thanks!  My friend Jin did majority of the texturing on this game Smiley  http://yalstudio.com/index.html

I'll update here when we have a new build up.  The old build is still playable online.  I'm holding back until we get crafting, and some more weapons into the game.

I recorded a new video showing some of the weapon drops shown in my last update.  All assets are in, you can craft weapons, but they are not functional.  Functionality will take awhile, but it's fun to see some new loot drop.

Thanks for the kind words, and bookmark!  Next week we will begin to implement some guns, and new enemy types.

Yesterday we got some awesome feedback from the local indie meetup group.  We will be working on some of these changes for our E3 demo.

Just an update.  We are working on a new demo.  I'm going to end up redoing all the rooms for the E3 demo.  The rooms will be smaller, and hopefully build more tension.  We will try to get a few new guns, as well as enemies.  Most important of all, the player will now die!

Below are our stats for Greenlight.  Could be better.  If anyone wants to vote, please do.  Yes or No heh.  I read after getting around 10k uniques it's pretty much up to the dev to get the word out.  We will do a bigger push once we have a descent demo to show everyone.

I dunno.  I read you can prob get 15k uniques in first few days?  After that it's all up to the dev.

The No Votes just keep coming in Smiley.  Hard sell.  I guess people tend to knock it for looking simple (minecraft) and generic zombies.  I need to make some new dev videos with more variety, but we need to fix a lot of stuff first.

I also posted the latest stats on my FB:

Hey it's been a long ass time, but we are back again.....

updated on steam

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/updates/149725396/1457420245

Since my last post the game has been greenlit.  We had many setbacks with multiplayer, and delays for personal reasons, so we decided to go back to the core game.  Must stay on target!
