how far should I take this game before it freezes in time (kids don't age anymore, new events don't happen, etc)

I'm thinking like 6 years but even that is pretty small.

Didn't the original Harvest moon simply end after a period of time and give a credit roll? Making a definite end of the game gives the player an excuse to play again from scratch, and gives you some flexibility to design mechanics around a playthrough of the game.

You might consider doing that, then use cheats or a sandbox mode to satisfy players who just want to dink around without restrictions for forever.

First line of dialogue, and already a typo.

Well in Harvest Moon the credits did roll, but you could keep playing after them (if you didn't get the terrible ending) I really feel like i'm going to end the story, and then allow the player to continue playing with looping evens like New Years, Halloween, festivals,  etc.

Haha and don't worry about the typo, I just typed it to test if the code worked, i'm talking to a flower, I'll make sure the dialogue is better haha.

I wanted to see how game makers built in 3d would work with a game like this so I downloaded some "3d" engine for game maker, but I don't really care for it so I'm going to drop this and go back to how it was, never hurts to try though.

How would it look with Pokemon styled 3d?

It looks really hard since game maker 3d is something I've never ever attempted, and I don't know if I can pull it off when I can barely do 2d collision. Maybe for future projects, because I love this style of 3D.



I added the affection icon, so you know how much she likes/hates you. Also I don't really know how I'm going to handle giving gifts to NPCs, because of how I handle my inventory, I'll figure something out though.

This looks pretty cool. I think the 3d effect was not all that bad but either way I like the style. From the gifs it really looks like it running very smoothly. Good luck with this.

Colors don't make too much sense. Maybe stick to white -> green -> pink instead.
