I've been doing a lot of research into CRT shaders recently, and a lot of manual mockup creation from screenshots. When I saw those screenshots you posted, I thought it would be cool to see how they might have looked on a 19" CRT monitor, so I decided to create a mockup of it I hope you don't mind! Clicking the image will take you to the full mockup - it's designed to be displayed on a monitor with a PPI of about 84, which seems to be rather common.

I need money, so I'm going to look for a job. Job means I cut more development from this game. Ah, growing up! ;-;

Doh!!! I know the feeling though, similar issues have been affecting M.I.N.T development quite a bit. Especially the artwork side alas.

Dude, we're in the complete same situation! Well, almost, I'm looking for an internship. It's really hard to find an interesting place outside Copenhagen. :/

(above picture)
I am so confused as to what it's supposed to be, at first I thought it was a wall but in that picture, the sand tile continues underneath it so it looks like a floating platform The upper half of it is looking really pretty, however.

Maybe break it up a little bit so its not just a straight line? There just isnt enough around it to make it look like its not a road. Maybe some trees on the lower level, or some stairs? Something to give us some perspective on it.

Oh! I see it now! It actually looks a lot better when you look at it like that, I just saw the shadow at the bottom as if it was underneath the higher ground making it look like it was floating Yeah, try breaking it up a little more. How about putting small mounds of sand covering the bottom of the cliff face, as if to suggest that the rock actually goes underneath the sand? You're getting there, just a few more tweaks

The cliff should be as dark (or darker) than the shadow it casts on the ground below, because light sources.
If it's the object casting the shadow, that means its dark side is also in the same shadow.
Dig? Also, they're right, try to break it up.

I agree with what was suggested above, but wow you are improving very quickly! Another suggestion: I think it would look more natural if the grass that overhangs the cliff was rendered with thicker lines to avoid looking like a carpet. Keep up the work, don't give up!

I dug up my old crappy laptop, I'm going to install Game Maker on it and take it to college so I can work during break. I definitely will need to re-edit most of the art work I do on this pc, its colors are terrible! my main monitor is a ips monitor so its got lovely colors :D
